On September 13, in Nho Quan district (Ninh Binh), Dan Tri reporter recorded that thousands of houses were isolated by floodwaters. According to statistics, this district still has more than 2,700 flooded houses, of which Gia Thuy commune has 786 households, Lac Van 514 households, Duc Long 924 households, Lang Phong 172 households...
In Gia Thuy, Lang Phong, Lac Van communes, floodwaters were 1-2m deep. All residential areas were submerged in murky water.
Since 2017, this is the second major flood that people have had to endure. There have been no human casualties, however, many households have had their property damaged, their lives have been disrupted due to lack of electricity, clean water, and food mainly instant noodles and relief rice porridge.
Floods on the Hoang Long River are gradually receding but are still at alert level 3. It will take many more days for people to escape being isolated by floodwaters.
From inside the house to the village roads and alleys were flooded, people had to use boats to get around. In the photo, people's boats are floating in the muddy flood water.
In Kenh Ga hamlet, Gia Thinh commune, Gia Vien district, hundreds of households here have been deeply submerged in floodwaters since the morning of September 8. In this hamlet, there are 2 kindergartens and primary schools of the commune, the deep floodwaters have caused students to have to stay home from school for many days.
Floodwaters rose to the right bank of the Hoang Long River. Outside the bank, floodwaters surrounded the bank, and inside the bank, thousands of households have been living in fear for many days.
For generations, people living along the Hoang Long River, outside the left and right dikes, have been familiar with flooding. However, the prolonged flood has left many people exhausted after days of fleeing, living with the flood, their lives turned upside down, and diseases spreading.
Many households had to move to the roof of their flooded houses. Everyone hoped that the flood would pass soon so that life could return to normal. According to statistics from Gia Vien district, as of the afternoon of September 13, more than 1,000 households were still flooded, of which more than 600 were completely isolated by floodwaters.
The scene of people living on the roofs of the "flood center" area of Ninh Binh has been going on for nearly a week.
The flood on the Hoang Long River is slowly receding, and it may take another 3-5 days for the flooding in Ninh Binh to end. Only then will people be able to clean up their homes and roads and escape isolation.
