In July, in a series of gratitude, we had the opportunity to meet many exemplary veterans in the countryside of Ha Tinh. With the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, in peacetime, they continue to take the lead in many fields, actively contributing to the construction of their homeland.
Veterans actively develop the economy
Veteran Le Quang Nhung in village 2, Quang Tho commune, Vu Quang.
In 1972, Mr. Le Quang Nhung (born in 1950, village 2, Quang Tho commune, Vu Quang) volunteered to join the military, becoming a soldier of Regiment 270, Division 341 and fighting to liberate the South and unify the country. Afterwards, Mr. Nhung continued to join his comrades to participate in international missions in Cambodia.
In 1990, after 18 years of participating in many battlefields, veteran Le Quang Nhung successfully completed his mission as a soldier protecting the Fatherland and returned to civilian life.
Returning to his hometown, Mr. Nhung continued to work hard on the economic development front, building a new life. Upholding the spirit of “Disabled but not useless”, on the land of Vu Quang mountain, Mr. Nhung and his family actively developed the economy.
Despite his old age, Mr. Nhung is still enthusiastic about production work.
Despite having war wounds and being 2/3 (71%) disabled soldiers, Mr. Nhung and his wife are still enthusiastic about production, building model gardens, growing fruit trees, raising cows, chickens, bees... earning more than 100 million VND each year.
Not only actively developing the family economy, Mr. Nhung also actively participated in the new rural construction movements, propagating and mobilizing people to participate well in the movements of the commune and village. Taking on the role of Chairman of the Quang Tho Commune Veterans Association (from 1990 - 2004), Mr. Nhung always promoted the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and hardships of a veteran. Since then, he has been active in social activities, encouraging members to develop the economy and build cultural families.
Mr. Nhung and his wife, Mrs. Tran Thi Tu, always encourage each other to try hard and set an example for their children and grandchildren.
By 2004, due to war injuries and declining health, Mr. Nhung had to stop social activities. However, he always upheld the spirit of being a good example, teaching his children and grandchildren to be good people. It is known that Mr. Nhung and his wife have 3 children (1 boy, 2 girls), all of whom have grown up and are holding many roles and positions in organizations and state agencies.
Mr. Nhung expressed: “Whether it is wartime or peacetime, soldiers like me must take the lead, take the first step. In wartime, we participate in fighting the enemy, in peacetime we must actively work and produce. Until now, I have always taught my children and grandchildren to strictly follow the Party's policies and the State's laws, continue to promote the family's revolutionary tradition, and work hard to produce so that life can develop more and more.”
A life of learning and following Uncle Ho
Although he is 85 years old this year, veteran Nguyen Dinh Loc (born in 1938, residing in TDP 4, Cam Xuyen town) is very clear-minded. In Mr. Loc's story, his descendants still hear about the heroic war years of the country and people.
In 1961, young man Nguyen Dinh Loc joined the army, becoming a soldier of Division 325 (2nd Corps). During his military service, veteran Nguyen Dinh Loc fought in many battlefields such as Tam Ky (Quang Nam, 1965), Route 9 Southern Laos (1971), and liberating the South (1975)...
