Organizing a birthday party with drugs, 2 young men received 30 years in prison

After a week of deliberation, on the morning of December 27, the People's Court of Kien Giang province sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Quang (born in 1995, residing in Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong) to 16 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking; Dang Tan Loi (born in 2003, residing in An Minh district, Kien Giang province) to 14 years in prison for 2 crimes of illegal possession of drugs and organizing illegal use of drugs.

According to the indictment, at around 0:30 on October 19, 2022, An Minh District Police administratively inspected VIP room 5 of Thien Duong Karaoke bar (in Ward 3, Thu Muoi Mot town, An Minh district) and discovered 26 people illegally using drugs.

The police temporarily seized 2 nylon bags containing 15 synthetic drug tablets and some other evidence used for drug use. At the same time, Quang and Loi were temporarily detained for investigation of the acts of buying, selling, storing and organizing the illegal use of drugs.

At the police station, Loi confessed that October 18 was his birthday, so he ordered birthday invitations to be printed at his house in Thanh Tay B hamlet, Dong Thanh commune, An Minh district.

In addition to announcing the time and location of the birthday party on October 18, 2022, the invitation also included "Special program: Music festival in Heaven at 11:00 p.m." so that guests know where to go to sing and use drugs.

At around 10:30 p.m. the same day, after finishing the birthday party at Loi's house, Quang and 24 other people moved to Thien Duong Karaoke bar and entered VIP room 5 that Loi had booked.

When arriving at the karaoke bar, Loi went out to meet Quang to get drugs (Loi had asked to buy them before). Here, Loi bought a bag of crystal meth (Ketamine) and 25 ecstasy pills (MDMA) for 9.5 million VND, then returned to the singing room, leaving them on the table for everyone to use.

While everyone was “high” to the music, the authorities checked and discovered and arrested them along with the evidence. Of the 26 people arrested by the police, 22 tested positive for drugs.

After that, An Minh District Police urgently searched Quang's residence in room 15 of Nha Phuong motel (belonging to Thien Duong Karaoke bar), confiscating 27 bags of crystal meth, 155 ecstasy pills...

Quang confessed that he bought the drugs for 103 million VND and hid them in his rented room with the intention of reselling them to drug addicts in An Minh district. When he was arrested, Quang had illegally sold drugs to 2 people and illegally earned over 6.2 million VND.
