Seed to Table supports Dong Thap in many organic agriculture development activities

DTO - On April 23, the Department of Agriculture and Environment in collaboration with Seed to Table held a "Review of sustainable community development activities through human resource training in the fields of organic agriculture, food processing and business management in Dong Thap province" with the participation of Mr. Ono Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Ino Mayu - Chief Representative of Seed to Table in Vietnam; Mr. Huynh Tat Dat - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province chaired the conference.


Ms. Ino Mayu - Chief Representative of Seed to Table Organization in Vietnam reported on the project implementation results at the conference.

In order to promote sustainable community development, the Organic Agriculture Development Project in Dong Thap Province supported by Seed to Table (phase 3) has implemented many training activities to improve the capacity of people, especially young workers, women and vulnerable groups in the fields of organic production, food processing and business management. These programs not only provide knowledge and practical skills but also contribute to the formation of modern production and business thinking, suitable for market trends and integration requirements.

At the conference, Mr. Huynh Tat Dat - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province said that from the achieved results, experiences, limitations, and difficulties shared at the conference, the units will continue to coordinate to implement the Organic Agriculture Development Project better in the coming time. In 2025, the project will continue to organize training courses (training of trainers (TOT), training in organic agriculture techniques and PGS systems, food processing, business management with Japanese experts); develop new products from key and potential local agricultural products such as mango, lotus, longan, etc. and improve the quality of products developed in previous years; participate in exchange activities, trade promotion, and start-ups with cooperatives and units that are striving to develop products made from local agricultural products; find stable output for farmers participating in organic vegetable production;...

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province continues to coordinate well with Seed to Table, Dong Thap Community College and related units to effectively implement the Project's activities, aiming to achieve the goal of improving the knowledge and techniques of small-scale farmers, agricultural officials, teachers, students of Dong Thap Community College and young entrepreneurs in organic agricultural techniques, agricultural processing, developing new specialty products, improving market access, contributing to improving the livelihoods of small-scale producers, helping local people protect the environment and develop sustainable socio-economy.
