According to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board coordinated with units and individuals to organize a series of unique cultural activities to join the national atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025), towards the 71st anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).
This is also an opportunity for Hanoi to introduce the quintessence of traditional craft villages - where people and tourists can admire unique and creative handicrafts made from traditional materials.
Specifically, from April 22-28, the exhibition of rattan and bamboo weaving with the theme "Made of Tre" was organized by the Hanoi Tourism Association at Kim Ngan communal house (42-44 Hang Bac), introducing familiar and environmentally friendly handicraft products, while honoring the talented hands of craftsmen.
Also at Kim Ngan communal house, from April 29 to June 1, artist Nguyen The Son will display and introduce art installations about the Hang Bac craft street.
From April 18 to May 22, at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center, Chuyen My (Phu Xuyen) mother-of-pearl inlay was introduced through a thematic exhibition and interactive talks, giving visitors a real experience of a most sophisticated traditional craft.
The exhibition of propaganda paintings by artist Nguyen Manh Duc will take place at the Cultural and Art Center 22 Hang Buom from April 25 to May 31.
In addition, the series of events also expands the space for regional cultural exchange. Specifically, from April 13 to May 31, the cultural tourism introduction between Hanoi and Phu Yen with the participation of local tourism businesses will take place at the Old Quarter Heritage Information Center (28 Hang Buom).
In addition, residents and visitors can also enjoy many art exhibitions such as: photo exhibition with the theme "Memories and Legends" (from April 25 to May 25), "Discovering the history of Hoan Kiem Lake" at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Center; exhibition space "Discovering Heritage" (from May 8) at villa No. 46 Hang Bai.
On this occasion, many stages in the Old Quarter also held activities such as: Traditional music performance "Old Quarter Music Stories" at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center; traditional music performances, contemporary folk music, revolutionary songs... at the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter.
The series of activities taking place from April 18 to June 1 in Hanoi’s Old Quarter promises to be a unique cultural destination, spreading traditional and historical values to the younger generation as well as tourists.
