Attending the festival were representatives of the Lao Consulate General and the Cambodian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations; representatives of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City; organizations and businesses of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City and 120 students representing more than 1,500 students from Laos and Cambodia studying in Ho Chi Minh City.

The opening ceremony of the 2025 Lao and Cambodian traditional New Year festival in Ho Chi Minh City was a performance of dances and songs by Lao and Cambodian students following the unique culture and traditional New Year customs of Laos and Cambodia, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and close ties between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The traditional Bunpimay New Year and Chol Chnam Thmey New Year in mid-April of the Lao and Cambodian peoples are an opportunity for Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City to organize cultural activities and festivals, welcoming a new year away from home in a warm, united and affectionate atmosphere.

Over the years, Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City have always received attention and care from city leaders and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union. Many learning support activities, training and exchange activities have been organized to improve knowledge, physical fitness, cultural and spiritual life, helping Lao and Cambodian students integrate with the youth of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to fostering the special friendship, solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and loyalty between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in general and the youth of the three countries in particular to become increasingly strong and developed.
