According to information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue (PCTT-TKCN) of Binh Thuan province, at about 3:30 a.m. on November 20, at a location about 206 nautical miles east-northeast of Vung Tau cape, about 92 nautical miles northeast of Phu Quy island, fishing boat BD 98268 TS (Binh Dinh) sank, at this time there were 14 workers fishing at sea.
Currently, the crew members on the sunken fishing boat are trying to cling to the floating part of the boat. Meanwhile, the weather at sea in this area has northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8.
The Standing Office of the Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control requested the Provincial Border Guard Command to monitor, direct, and inform border posts in the area, Squadron 2, and mobilize fishing boats of Binh Thuan operating near the area where fishing boat BD 98268 TS was in distress; increase observation, detection, search and support, and organize rescue of fishermen.
Coast Guard ship 6007 is at sea to assist in the search for 14 fishermen in distress in Phu Quy waters.
Phan Thiet Coastal Information Station and Binh Thuan Maritime Port Authority have broadcast search and rescue information to ships and boats in the coordinate area of the sunken fishing boat BD 98268 TS to increase observation, support and organize timely rescue of the crew members in distress.
The People's Committee and the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Phu Quy island district inform local ships and boats operating at sea of information, coordinate support, and organize rescue if discovered.
According to the Binh Thuan Border Guard Command, Coast Guard ship number 6007 has departed for search and rescue. It is expected that the Coast Guard ship will arrive at the location of the sunken fishing boat in about 20 hours. Ship CN 09 of the Binh Thuan Border Guard at Phu Quy Island is also ready to coordinate the search when requested by the commander.
