TKV actively restores production, supports 70 billion VND to overcome the consequences of storm Yagi

Although significantly affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi), Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) has quickly deployed a support package of 70 billion VND to overcome the consequences of storms and floods for localities and TKV workers, while actively restoring production quickly.

Move to where production is immediately there

Implementing the direction of the Vietnam Group on prevention and response to storm No. 3 and heavy rain, the units in Cam Pha region quickly deployed the plan for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue (PCTT - TKCN), organized the review and inspection of key areas, pumping pits, power stations, mine drainage pumping systems, waste dumps, drainage systems, warehouses, cranes, coal conveyors... and consolidated and handled before the storm arrived; maintained the mine drainage pumping system, ventilation, mine drainage pumping, prepared the generator system to pump water when the grid was out as well as materials and equipment for storm prevention.

TKV leaders requested that, although the storm has passed, units should not be subjective or negligent, continue to monitor and be ready with response plans in case of incidents, and at the same time review and quickly overcome the consequences of the storm to restore production.

Thanks to the good implementation of storm prevention work No. 3 and heavy rain, despite the power outage, underground and open-pit coal production units still ensured the operation of pumping and draining water from underground mines and mines using backup power from generator systems. Along with that, focusing on the implementation of storm recovery work No. 3, when the national grid was restored after the power interruption due to the storm, the units quickly reorganized production.

Quang Hanh Coal Company was the unit that had electricity grid early from 8:00 p.m. on September 8. The company arranged water pumping, ventilation and quickly resumed production; coal production on September 11 reached over 3,000 tons; on the first shift on September 12, the number of workers going to work reached over 90%.

Thong Nhat Coal Company had electricity from the grid at 8:30 on September 9 and resumed production from the first shift on September 10. On September 11, the company produced over 6,210 tons of coal; the rate of workers going to work was high, on September 12, 1,500 miners and 270 mine electricians went to work.

Mong Duong, Khe Cham, and Ha Long Coal Companies have had electricity since September 10. Thanks to proactively preventing storms and heavy rains, ensuring the operation of pumping pits with backup power from generator systems, carrying out drainage and ventilation work, and preparing production conditions well, immediately after having electricity on September 10, Mong Duong Coal Company organized normal production with a high rate of workers going to work; on September 11, production reached over 4,200 tons of coal; on September 12, striving to achieve higher output.

Khe Cham Coal Company produced 5,200 tons of coal on September 11; the number of workers working the first shift on September 12 reached 76%; the company maintained 9 pumps and 6 generators.

On September 11, Ha Long Coal Company produced over 5,500 tons of coal; on September 12, the number of workers working reached 82%; The company maintained 13 large capacity pumps at -250 and -350.

Duong Huy Coal Company resumed normal production on September 11, with coal output reaching nearly 6,000 tons; on September 12, 82% of miners went to work, while over 130 miners have not yet gone to work.

Clean up to quickly return to production at Uong Bi Coal Company.

For open-pit production units such as Deo Nai - Coc Sau Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV, immediately after the storm passed on September 8, they quickly overcame the consequences of the storm, focusing on pumping out water from the mines with 16 pumping systems at Deo Nai and Coc Sau mines. Cao Son Coal Company resumed production on September 8, overcoming the consequences of the storm and producing immediately; on September 11, the company produced 2,240 tons of coal.

Coal warehouse, screening, processing and trading units also maintained the stability of the entire production system, promptly overcame the consequences of the storm and quickly resumed production.

Since the morning of September 11, Cua Ong Coal Selection Company - TKV has organized coal hauling from units in the Cam Pha area and exported the first tons of coal after storm No. 3. Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company, Cam Pha Coal Trading Company inspected and reviewed coal warehouses, both to overcome the consequences of the storm and to prepare coal resources to be ready to supply to power production and customers.

Up to this point, basically, the units in Cam Pha coal area have been supplied with electricity again to organize 3-shift production; the work to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and heavy rain has also been urgently deployed to return production and business to normal operations, stabilizing jobs and lives for workers.

In the Western and Ha Long (Quang Ninh) units, including: Mao Khe Coal Company, Uong Bi, Nam Mau, Vang Danh, Hon Gai, Ha Lam, Ha Tu, Nui Beo. These are the main underground and open-pit production units with large mining output of TKV. The restoration of production is a bit slower due to the impact of grid power supply.

To maintain the operation of pumping stations, mines that have not been supplied with electricity or have unstable power supply such as Mao Khe, Uong Bi, Vang Danh, Hon Gai, Nui Beo, and Ha Lam Coal Companies all use large capacity generator systems.

Currently, TKV and its member units are making maximum efforts to gradually overcome all difficulties to soon stabilize production again.

Coal consumption restored to normal at Cua Ong port - Cua Ong Coal Selection Company on September 12, 2024.

Chairman of TKV Group Ngo Hoang Ngan also requested leaders of units on duty at the mines to directly fix and handle incidents as quickly as possible. Underground mines urgently strengthen the capacity of generators, check the status of water-blocking sluice gates, and drainage systems in the mines; check, review, and strengthen key areas and locations; deploy plans to eliminate incidents and prevent mine flooding, with specific time schedules.

At the same time, continue to increase drainage pumps and generator systems to meet mine drainage pumping and ventilation needs in conditions where there is no power grid or the power grid is not operating stably.

“By all means, units must protect the safety of the pumping system and power station, which are considered the heart of the mine. At the same time, continue to maintain daily duty, overcome the consequences of the storm until production is stable again,” TKV Chairman Ngo Hoang Ngan directed.

Spending 70 billion to support after storms and floods

Along with effectively implementing the work of preventing and responding to storm No. 3 and heavy rain, promptly overcoming the consequences of the storm, soon resuming production and business activities, providing coal for the economy, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) has organized visits and timely support for families of workers who died or were injured as well as those whose relatives were killed or injured, and whose families suffered heavy losses due to the storm.

With the tradition of mutual support of miners, TKV has deployed a support package of 70 billion VND for overcoming the consequences of storms and floods for localities and TKV workers.

TKV leaders encourage workers to overcome the consequences of storms and floods to restore production.

Of this, TKV has supported 10 billion VND for flood victims through the Fund launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

For the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, and Bac Kan, which were heavily damaged by storms and floods, and are also strategic locations for TKV's production and business development, the Group supported these four provinces with a total of 28 billion VND (7 billion VND for each province).
