The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just announced the situation of occupational accidents in 2022. Accordingly, during this period, there were 7,718 occupational accidents (OAs) nationwide, an increase of 1,214 cases compared to 2021, causing 7,923 victims (an increase of 1,265 people compared to 2021).
The number of fatal occupational accidents was 720 (down 29 cases). The number of deaths due to occupational accidents was 754, down 32. The number of seriously injured people was 1,747, up 162.
In the labor relations sector alone, material damage caused by labor accidents in 2022 was over VND 14,117 billion (an increase of about VND 10,163 billion compared to 2021). This amount includes costs for medicine, burial, compensation for families of the deceased and the injured...
In addition, occupational accidents also caused property damage of over VND 268 billion (an increase of about VND 250 billion compared to 2021); the total number of days off due to occupational accidents was more than 143,000 days (an increase of about 27,000 days compared to 2021).
Notably, Ho Chi Minh City is the leading locality in many indicators in statistics on occupational accidents.
In 2022, in Ho Chi Minh City, there were 803 occupational accidents with 832 victims, only lower than Dong Nai (1,655 accidents, 1,671 victims).
However, the number of fatal occupational accidents in the city is the highest in the country (83 cases) and the number of deaths due to occupational accidents is also the highest (86 people).
The second locality with the highest number of fatal work accidents is Hanoi (42 cases, 42 deaths). Next is Binh Duong (38 cases, 41 deaths).
In 2022, the authorities transferred files to propose prosecution of 22 labor accident cases, of which 20 occurred in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of the 20 serious accidents proposed for prosecution in Ho Chi Minh City, 7 occurred in 2021, 1 occurred in 2020, and the conclusion of the occupational accident and the proposal for prosecution were not made until 2022; the rest occurred in 2022.
