Hoang Mai
Previously, Dong Da was the most populous district in Hanoi, but according to the 2020 Statistical Yearbook, Hoang Mai district has a population of more than 500,000 people, while Dong Da has over 400,000. Hoang Mai district was established in 2003 with an area of over 40 km2, including 14 wards: Dai Kim, Dinh Cong, Giap Bat, Hoang Liet, Hoang Van Thu, Linh Nam, Mai Dong, Tan Mai, Tuong Mai, Thanh Tri, Thinh Liet, Tran Phu, Vinh Hung, Yen So.
Geographically, Hoang Mai is located in the Southeast of Hanoi city, bordering the Red River and Long Bien district to the East; Thanh Tri district to the West and South; Thanh Xuan and Hai Ba Trung districts to the North. Hoang Mai district is divided into three relatively equal parts by Giai Phong and Tam Trinh streets (along the North-South axis).
In the district, there are many traditional craft villages such as fan making in Lu village, silver plating in Giap Luc village, and jewelry in Dinh Cong ward. This is also a land with many relics with architectural and historical values, including Mai Dong Communal House, Thien Phuc Pagoda, Tuong Mai Pagoda, and Dinh Cong Ha Temple.
