A corner of Tan An city ( Long An province)
According to this plan, Long An province will rearrange from 186 current commune-level administrative units to 60 communes and wards, including: 4 wards and 56 new communes, including 9 border communes.
Tan An city will be reorganized into 3 wards. The name Long An will be given to the new ward as the center of the province, along with 2 other wards, Tan An and Khanh Hau.
Kien Tuong town will be renamed Kien Tuong ward. The names of 12 districts: Tan Hung, Vinh Hung, Moc Hoa, Duc Hoa, Duc Hue, Tan Thanh, Thanh Hoa, Thu Thua, Ben Luc, Tan Tru, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc will be retained to name the new central commune after the arrangement.
As for the name of Chau Thanh district, because it coincides with the name of Chau Thanh district, Tay Ninh province, this name was not kept but the name Tam Vu was used to name the central commune of this area.
It is expected that the plan to arrange 60 new wards and communes of Long An will be organized by localities to collect opinions from people and voters this week.
Previously, according to the list of proposed province mergers attached to the Resolution of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee (Resolution No. 60), Long An province was expected to merge with Tay Ninh province, named Tay Ninh province, with the political and administrative center located in Long An province.
