On the side of Lao Cai province, there were comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports.
At the meeting, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee reported to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism the main contents of the Project to organize the Red River Festival for the period 2024 - 2034. Accordingly, when implemented, the Project will create a unique cultural - tourism product, contributing to positioning the brand of Lao Cai province - associated with the Red River - the heritage river of the Vietnamese people; affirming the strategic position of Lao Cai province, linking the history of the Red River civilization with the history of the formation and development of Lao Cai province. Through the project's activities, promote and develop economic tourism models on rivers and along rivers; promote the potential and strengths in economic, cultural and social development of Lao Cai province in the trend of integration and general development of the whole country.
The Red River Festival will contribute to strengthening connections, cultural exchanges, economic and tourism development cooperation between the northwestern provinces, the provinces along the Red River of Vietnam and Yunnan province - China, while promoting international cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism of Lao Cai province.
In terms of scale, the 2024 Red River Festival will be organized at the provincial level, with the participation of provinces along the Red River and Hong Ha District, Yunnan Province - China. From 2026 - 2034, it is expected to be held at the national level, chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the participation of Lao Cai Province, provinces along the Red River and Hong Ha District, Yunnan Province - China.
Lao Cai province proposed that Vietnam organize the Red River Festival every two years, expected in October of 2024, 2026, 2028, 2030, 2032, 2034. It is proposed that Hong Ha district, Yunnan province (China) preside over the organization every two years in 2025, 2027, 2029, 2031, 2033, 2035 in China.
Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also proposed the theme for the Red River Festival each year. In 2024, the theme is expected to be "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam", with many cultural, sports and tourism activities organized.
At the meeting, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, basically agreed with the content of the Project to organize the Red River Festival in the period of 2024 - 2034 that Lao Cai province has developed, and at the same time suggested contents on international cooperation during the implementation process.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, thanked the attention and support of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in developing the Project to organize the Red River Festival for the period 2024 - 2034 and the Plan to organize the Red River Festival in 2024.
He hoped that in the coming time, the Ministry would continue to support Lao Cai province in implementing the procedures for organizing the Red River Festival in accordance with legal regulations; and strengthen the connection with central agencies in coordinating the organization and implementation of tasks according to the proposed projects and plans.
