In an urgent document dated May 25, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the People's Committee of Bao Loc city to urgently check, verify and handle information reflecting on the graduation ceremony organization in Thanh Nien newspaper and report the results before 11:00 a.m. on May 26.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee's urgent document requests to verify information, check and rectify the organization of graduation ceremonies and year-end ceremonies.
Also according to the document, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training and People's Committees of districts and cities to promptly rectify and strictly handle similar cases (if any).
In addition, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee directseducational institutions to annually organize graduation ceremonies, year-end ceremonies and a number of other activities to ensure solemnity, economy and efficiency.
The move came after Thanh Nien Newspaper published the article "Over 46 million VND for a 5th grade graduation ceremony, should we?".
Accordingly, the notice estimated the cost for the graduation ceremony of a 5th grade class at an elementary school (Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province) to be 46,140,000 VND. Of which, the average fee per student is 400,000 VND, the remaining amount will be mobilized by the parents in the class to sponsor the graduation ceremony.
The notice also listed in detail each expenditure item such as: expenditure for teachers (including the principal, homeroom teacher, subject teachers, vice principal...) is 14.3 million VND; food for 40 students is 10.8 million VND, food for 55 parents of the class and teachers is 14,040,000 VND...
