Ukraine attacks Russian trains with HIMARS?

The Kyiv Independent news site on December 15 quoted an intelligence source saying that Ukrainian intelligence agencies destroyed a Russian train carrying 40 fuel tanks in the Russian-controlled area of Zaporizhzhia province in southern Ukraine on December 14.

The source also confirmed that the purpose of the operation was to disrupt the supply route used by Russia to transport fuel from the Crimean peninsula to the Zaporizhzhia region. The operation was jointly carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Tavria Group of the Ukrainian army, the Military Intelligence Service (HUR) and the Special Operations Forces (SSO).

According to the source, the operation to destroy Russian trains began with the SBU organizing a mission to sabotage the railway tracks near the village of Oleksiivka in the Bilmak district.

As the Russian train carrying 40 fuel tanks was moving along the tracks, an explosion caused the train to derail and some of the fuel tanks to catch fire, according to the source.

The operation completely destroyed the locomotive and 40 fuel tanks, paralyzing a key supply route for Russian forces in the area and rendering the targeted railway line inoperable, according to the source.

As of the evening of December 15, there was no information about Russia's reaction.
