Bac Ninh province introduces Dong Ho paintings in Hanoi, there will be a very special performance "Bac Bling"

Dong Ho paintings are a traditional genre of paintings, reflecting the customs, beliefs and daily life of the Vietnamese people. Currently, the dossier to nominate Dong Ho painting to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding is under review and is expected to be evaluated in 2025.


In order to continue promoting the cultural heritage of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac and campaigning for UNESCO to recognize Dong Ho folk painting as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection, for 2 days (March 29-30), the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province coordinated with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO to organize the program "Quintessence of Bac Ninh culture - Colors of Dong Ho" at the Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi City.

The program was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Hanoi People's Committee, leaders of Bac Ninh province, embassies of various countries, and many domestic and foreign tourists. This is an important event to introduce the unique cultural values ​​of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac, in which Dong Ho folk paintings stand out.

The space of the program "Bac Ninh Cultural Quintessence - Dong Ho Colors" vividly recreates the rustic yet sophisticated beauty of famous craft villages such as Phu Lang pottery with warm earthy brown color, bamboo and rattan weaving with elegant light yellow color, Dong Ho paintings with brilliant red, green, and yellow colors, and rustic yet durable Do paper.

The exhibition areas are designed like traditional houses, interwoven with bamboo panels and thatched roofs, creating a space imbued with Kinh Bac culture.

The event not only honors traditional artistic values ​​but also brings authentic experiences to visitors, where they can directly admire, learn and interact with artisans, to fully feel the spirit and beauty of the national cultural heritage.

Within the framework of the program, the exhibition booths will introduce unique cultural products of Bac Ninh including: Dong Ho paintings, Phu Lang pottery, Dai Bai bronze casting, Xuan Hoi bamboo and rattan weaving, Phu Khe and Dong Ky fine art wood, and other OCOP products of the province. In addition, visitors can also enjoy Quan Ho folk songs, calligraphy and other traditional art forms.

In particular, at the opening ceremony taking place at 9:00 a.m. on March 29, teachers and students of Dong Ky 1 ​​Kindergarten will perform the song "Bac Bling", bringing new colors to this important cultural event.
