LEGO's toy factory in Binh Duong broke ground in November 2022 at VSIP III Industrial Park, with a total investment of 1.36 billion USD. This is the LEGO Group's sixth factory globally and second in Asia, playing a key role in realizing the Group's long-term growth goals by getting closer to children and LEGO fans in the Asia-Pacific region. The initial phase's capacity is expected to be about 30,000 tons of products/year. In particular, with a land use area of up to 44.79 hectares, the Company can expand its operations and develop production in the future.

The Binh Duong factory is also the LEGO Group's most sustainable manufacturing facility to date. Mr. Niels B. Christiansen - CEO of the LEGO Group shared: "Sustainability is a core objective throughout every operation of the LEGO Vietnam Factory. The factory will be operated with renewable energy. LEGO signed an agreement with VSIP to build an energy center using a battery energy storage solution (BESS), to take advantage of energy from solar panels on the roof of the center. Combined with the solar battery system, 78% of the Factory's annual energy needs will be met from renewable energy sources in the first 5 years of operation. The energy center is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026."
The LEGO factory in Binh Duong is the first LEGO Group facility to have LEED Platinum certified buildings and use 100% paper packaging. The factory is also building a high-quality workforce in the area, with plans to recruit 4,000 workers in the coming years. In addition, LEGO will also cooperate with local authorities, community organizations, and charities to bring more learning and playing opportunities to Vietnamese children.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh emphasized that with a smart and sustainable development strategy, along with the investment and very methodical, scientific and advanced production and business plan of the LEGO Group, he believes that the production activities of the LEGO Factory at VSIP III will take place smoothly, effectively and continuously develop.
The Binh Duong Provincial Government is committed to always accompanying and creating the best conditions for the production activities of the Factory and the business goals of the LEGO Group in Vietnam to achieve the best results. Thereby, not only firmly affirming the LEGO brand on a global scale, but also contributing to consolidating, strengthening and deepening the already very good strategic partnership between the Governments and people of Vietnam and Denmark, especially in the fields of science and technology, innovation, green development and digital transformation.

LEGO and VSIP sign agreement to build energy center
On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said that the inauguration ceremony of the LEGO Factory is a great moment not only for Binh Duong province but also for Vietnam as a whole. He welcomed the commitment to sustainability and social responsibility for the community of the LEGO project in Binh Duong.
The Vietnamese government is determined to develop the economy rapidly and sustainably, along with environmental protection, prioritizing green and circular economic sectors. And LEGO is an ideal model for this development orientation. The presence of the LEGO Factory is also a testament to the attractiveness of Binh Duong province in attracting investment from large economic groups. The LEGO Factory will be a new driving force to promote economic transformation from traditional industries to high-tech, green, clean industries, creating a sustainable economic ecosystem. At the national level, the LEGO Factory will contribute to diversifying the supply chain, promoting exports and enhancing Vietnam's position on the global economic map.
The Government is committed to continuing institutional reform, investing in infrastructure, training human resources, ensuring a stable legal environment, and always accompanying the sustainable and long-term development of businesses.
Looking to the future, the Deputy Prime Minister believes that LEGO Vietnam Factory will not only be a leading regional manufacturing center but also a source of innovation. He wished the LEGO Group continued strong growth and the Vietnam-Denmark relationship will be increasingly strong.
