Tens of thousands of charity meals every day need a monitoring process
Every day, hospitals across the country receive tens of thousands of charity meals. The way philanthropists and organizations help poor and disadvantaged patients is commendable, but hospitals also need to have a meal monitoring process to ensure food safety.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel (Ministry of Health), informed this at the Conference summarizing 9 years of implementing Circular No. 43/2015 TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health regulating the form of organization of social work tasks of hospitals... held on November 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Associate Professor Tuan Hung said that in addition to ensuring food quality and clear origin, cooks also need to ensure hygiene in cooking.
Therefore, when charity meals are delivered to hospitals, the hospitals must keep food samples so that if there is a problem, the origin can be found.
"The hospital, the social work department, and the nutrition department strictly control the quality of the charity meals. If a problem is found in the meal, it must be resolved according to the hospital's plan.
There have been no cases of food poisoning from charity meals in the past, but we warn that there are cases of charity groups bringing expired cakes, candies, and instant noodles to hospitals to give to patients," Associate Professor Tuan Hung noted.
