Reasons for FDI capital in Vietnam's slowing growth
In a recently published report, SSI Securities said that over the past 10 years, the growth of FDI capital flows into Vietnam has maintained its growth momentum, thanks to the trend of production shift.
GOLD PRICE UPDATE
Countries and regions such as Singapore, Taiwan, and China are major contributors to this growth, as Vietnam has competitive advantages in terms of favorable investment policies, low labor costs, and a stable economy.
However, in 2024, FDI inflows into Vietnam will grow more slowly.
According to SSI, in the first 10 months of 2024, total registered FDI capital reached 27.26 billion USD, up only 1.9% over the same period.
“In the short term, FDI enterprises may wait to see President Trump's new tariff policies, including tax laws affecting imports from Vietnam,” SSI experts said.
According to SSI's analysis team, there are many reasons for the slowdown in FDI capital flows into Vietnam's industrial park real estate industry in 2024, including exchange rate fluctuations.
FDI policy reforms are needed to attract foreign capital into target sectors.
Currently, Vietnam is competing to attract FDI with neighboring countries such as Indonesia (which has enacted the Omnibus Law) or Thailand (which has a fund to enhance competitiveness and applies a corporate income tax of 10%), SSI cited.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's infrastructure is still limited, especially in the South. There is not much remaining area available for lease in major industrial zones.
According to SSI, the Government is taking actions to resolve bottlenecks to attract FDI capital flows. SSI believes that FDI capital flows will continue to grow, even when new US tax laws are applied.
