GOLD PRICE UPDATE

The announcement stated that the transaction form of this purchase will be "spot delivery".

The expected payment date is September 16. Previously, the State Treasury had purchased foreign currency from commercial banks twice with a total of 250 million USD.

The third foreign currency purchase by the State Treasury took place in the context of the USD exchange rate cooling down.

On September 12, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate at 24,187 VND/USD, a decrease of 25 VND compared to the previous day.

In the interbank market, the USD buying price is commonly listed at 24,380 VND, and the selling price is 24,750 VND, a sharp decrease compared to April and May, when the exchange rate increased by about 5%.

Domestic exchange rates cooled down amid a weakening USD after the Fed made its interest rate cut message clearer this September.

After Typhoon Yagi , many seafood export businesses stopped operating.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, deputy general secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, said many businesses in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces suffered heavy losses when their factories and workshops had their roofs blown off; the electrical system was damaged, causing frozen goods to be affected.

Viet Truong Company Limited has 3 factories, 2 of which are almost devastated. The production workshops, packaging warehouses, and pellet feed factories had their roofs blown off and collapsed; the packaging was wet.

The company is temporarily storing imported raw materials in containers at the port, accepting the costs of storage and electricity at the port.

Mr. Do Quang Sang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Quang Ninh Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company, said that after storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), the company had to temporarily stop production for 4-5 days to clean up the entire factory.

According to VASEP, in the first 8 months of 2024, seafood exports reached nearly 6.4 billion USD, an increase of nearly 9% over the same period last year.

Except for squid and octopus, whose export turnover decreased by 15% in August, the export of all other key products had double- and triple-digit growth. Of which, shrimp exports increased by 30%, tra fish increased by 18%, tuna increased by 13% and other marine fish increased by 12%.
