Nationwide there are about 240,000 temporary and dilapidated houses.

On the afternoon of January 12, concluding the second meeting of the Central Steering Committee on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, evaluating the results of implementation in 2024, and implementing tasks for 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses is an extremely important and humane task, so no matter how difficult it is, it must be done and no matter how difficult it is, it must be resolved.

According to the Steering Committee, the updated results of 42 localities show that so far, nearly 88,490 temporary and dilapidated houses have been supported to be eliminated, with nearly 48,990 houses having been inaugurated and nearly 35,900 new houses being started for people with revolutionary contributions and temporary and dilapidated houses being eliminated for the poor.

Through the program, up to now, 12 localities have received support from 12 units with a total budget of 1,370 billion VND; the Central "For the Poor" Fund has received over 72,452 billion VND in support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

According to a survey, there are currently about 240,000 temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide that need support for renovation and new construction by 2025.

The Ministry of Finance strictly prohibits giving or receiving Tet gifts to leaders in any form.

In the latest announcement of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Minister of Finance, requested heads of units and organizations under the Ministry not to go to pagodas or festivals during working hours if not assigned; not to participate in superstitious activities; not to use state budget, means, and public assets against regulations for festival and entertainment activities.

Cadres and party members, especially leaders of Party committees and units, must truly set an example in celebrating the New Year in a healthy, safe and economical manner.

In addition, Mr. Thang requested the heads of units under the finance sector to strictly implement administrative discipline and labor discipline; urgently focus on solving and handling work right from the first working day, especially backlog and delayed work due to Tet holiday, promptly handle arising work and situations;

Do not let it affect the lives and production and business activities of people and enterprises; strictly prohibit giving or receiving Tet gifts to leaders in any form.

Tan An, Long An is the first city to meet civilized urban standards.

On January 12, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan An City held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, recognizing Tan An as meeting civilized urban standards in 2024. This is the first city in the country to be recognized with this standard.

In recent times, with the rapid urbanization, Tan An city has invested in technical infrastructure and social infrastructure systems such as Hoang Hoa Tham park, smart lighting system (iLCS), renovating inner-city sidewalks (15 roads), upgrading and renovating 21 roads, implementing investment in construction of resettlement area No. 1 in Khanh Hau ward, resettlement area in An Vinh Ngai commune... creating an increasingly spacious urban appearance for the city.

Thereby basically meeting the living, entertainment, recreation, labor, study conditions of the people and socio-economic development of Tan An.

Tan An has 100% of wards (8/8 wards) meeting civilized urban standards; 100% of communes (5/5 communes) meeting new rural standards. Tan An meets 9 criteria on urban planning; urban traffic; urban environment and food safety; urban security and order; urban information and communication; employment, average income, poor households in urban areas; urban culture and sports; urban health and education; political system and responsibility of urban authorities.

Proposal for new regulations on granting certificates of leave to receive social insurance

The Ministry of Health is drafting a circular detailing the implementation of the Law on Social Insurance and the Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in the health sector. In particular, the ministry proposes regulations on the issuance and management of certificates of leave for social insurance benefits.

The draft states that the issuance of a certificate of leave to receive social insurance must meet the following requirements:

– Issued by a licensed medical facility. Practitioners working at this medical facility are allowed to sign a certificate of leave to receive social insurance as assigned by the head of that medical facility.

– In accordance with the scope of professional activities of the medical facility that issues the certificate of leave to receive social insurance approved by the competent authority.

– In accordance with the patient's health condition and professional instructions of the Minister of Health.

Also according to the draft, only one certificate of leave from work to receive social insurance will be issued for each examination. In case the patient needs to take leave for more than 30 days, when the leave period stated on the certificate expires or is about to expire, the patient must be re-examined so that the practitioner can consider and decide.

In case an employee is examined by two or more specialists of different medical facilities at the same time and is issued a certificate of leave to receive social insurance, he/she will only be allowed to take leave according to the certificate with the longest leave period.
