According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the connecting road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway through Ho Chi Minh City from the Go Dua intersection of Ring Road 2 (Ho Chi Minh City) to DT.743 road (Binh Duong province) is about 1.65km long.
Currently, the department is conducting a survey and preparing a pre-feasibility study report for the project to soon deploy investment in synchronous connection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway. It is expected that the project will be submitted for appraisal and investment policy approval in the second quarter of 2025.
Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway, connecting with Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway, will open a vital route connecting provinces and cities in the Southeast region with the Central Highlands. Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway, a 52km section through Binh Duong province, is under construction with the goal of shortening the progress and striving to complete it in 2026.
Meanwhile, the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province has just submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Construction to appraise the feasibility study report of component project 1 - investment in the construction of the Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) expressway, over 124km long, under the public-private partnership (PPP) method. According to the plan, the expressway will be prepared and start construction from 2025, basically completed in 2026, and put into operation in 2027.
Proposal for Vietnam to study dormitory model for workers like Singapore
Apartment rental prices in Hanoi continue to increase sharply - Photo: NAM TRAN
In a recently released report, the Vietnam Association of Realtors (VARS) said that apartment rental prices in Hanoi continue to increase sharply due to supply mainly coming from the high-end segment, while demand for rental housing remains high.
By the end of 2024, the average apartment price will reach 70 million VND/m2, leading to a 10-20% increase in rental prices, with almost no central apartments priced below 10 million VND/month. Rental prices have increased but have not kept up with the increase in housing prices, causing the rental profit margin to drop, commonly below 2%.
Due to rising rents, many young people are forced to leave the city center or reduce their living space. The trend of moving to the suburbs is clear because rents are 20-30% lower, but there are challenges with traffic and travel costs.
VARS proposes to develop a fund for low-cost rental housing, prioritizing young workers, while promoting public transportation to support workers. Accordingly, the urban dormitory model like Singapore can be considered as a suitable solution to help young people access low-cost housing.
For the market to develop sustainably, VARS believes that it is necessary to adjust supply and demand and expand the affordable and mid-range housing segment.
Pork prices may increase further

Information from many southern pig farmers said that the selling price of live pigs on March 9 was at 80,000 - 84,000 VND/kg, a slight increase compared to a few days before, and an increase of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg compared to the time after Tet.
According to many farmers, the price of pigs has exceeded 80,000 VND/kg for nearly a week now and shows no signs of decreasing.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre on March 9, Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan, vice president of the Dong Nai Livestock Association, said that the price of pork has been stable in the past few days due to a decrease in purchasing power at the market, in addition to information about the influx of imported pork, especially from Thailand and Cambodia. However, pork prices are likely to increase in the coming time.
"The large number of small pigs coming to the market proves that the epidemic is still ongoing in many farming areas, leading to a shortage of live pigs despite low demand. This explains why pork prices have increased rapidly in recent times and are likely to increase further," said Mr. Doan.
Meanwhile, information from Hoc Mon and Binh Dien wholesale markets (HCMC) shows that the price of pork (slaughtered, headless) sold in the past two days has fluctuated between 97,000 - 106,000 VND/kg depending on the type, a slight increase compared to a few days ago; the price of pork is stable at 99,000 - 172,000 VND/kg depending on the type. However, due to the high price of pork, consumption demand is relatively slow compared to normal.
