TPO – The People's Committee of Hai Phong City has just established a Steering Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to implement the investment project to build the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line, more than 390 km long, connecting from Lao Cai border gate through 9 provinces/cities to Lach Huyen port.
On November 28, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung - Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee - decided to establish a Steering Committee to coordinate the implementation of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project (abbreviated as the Steering Committee), the section passing through Hai Phong City, headed by Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.
The two deputy heads of the Steering Committee include Mr. Vu Duy Tung - Director of the Department of Transport (DOT) and Mr. Duong Dinh On - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE), along with 13 members who are leaders of relevant departments and localities.
The Steering Committee is responsible for assisting the City People's Committee in directing and urging departments, branches and localities to coordinate with specialized agencies of the Ministry of Transport to organize the implementation of the project section through the city to ensure quality and progress as required.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Transport as the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee, advising and directing sectors and localities to coordinate with the Railway Project Management Board - Ministry of Transport in the process of project implementation.
The Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway starts from the rail connection point with the Chinese railway, in Lao Cai city, and ends at the Lach Huyen Port station in Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city.
The Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line is expected to be over 390 km long, the connecting line is over 5.7 km long; 2 branch lines are over 20 km long. The project passes through 9 provinces/cities, including: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong.
The section through Hai Phong is more than 46 km long. There are two branch lines from Nam Hai Phong station to Nam Do Son port area and a branch from Nam Dinh Vu station to Dinh Vu port area. It is expected that the railway line through Hai Phong will have 6 stations.
