The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just issued a bulletin on increased cold air and weather forecast for the next 10 days, from the night of December 18 to December 28.

According to the center, currently (December 18), the cold air mass is moving south.

It is forecasted that on land, around early morning and on December 19, this cold air mass will affect the North and North Central regions, then affect the Central Central region and some places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland will strengthen to level 3; coastal areas level 4-5.

In the North and Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, the weather continues to be very cold, in mountainous areas it is very cold; in the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue it is very cold.

Day and night of December 19, the average temperature in the Northern mountainous region is 12-14 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature is 7-10 degrees Celsius; The midland and Northern Delta regions, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An have an average temperature of 14-16 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature is 11-14 degrees Celsius.

During this cold air mass, the lowest temperature at night and early morning in the North and Thanh Hoa, Nghe An is generally 9-12 degrees Celsius, in the mountainous areas of the North it is generally 5-8 degrees Celsius, in the high mountainous areas it is below 3 degrees Celsius; in the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue it is generally 14-17 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from December 19, the Northeast wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, waves 2-4m high, rough seas; the North East Sea area (including the sea area of ​​Hoang Sa archipelago) will have strong Northeast wind of level 7, gusting to level 9, waves 5-7m high, rough seas.

From the evening and night of December 19, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau , the area between the East Sea and the western sea area of ​​the South East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa archipelago) will have strong northeast winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, waves 5-7m high, rough seas.

The meteorological agency warns that during this severe cold spell, frost and frost may occur in the midland and mountainous areas of the North. From the night of December 19, in the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa, there will be rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind may occur.

There will be rain in some places in the North and North Central regions, with scattered light rain from the night of December 18 to 19. The weather will be very cold, with severe cold in the mountainous areas of the North.

Central and South Central regions have scattered showers; from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, there will be scattered showers. From the night of December 19, this area will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain. The North will be cold.

Other areas have showers and thunderstorms at night, sunny during the day.

There will be rain in some places in the North and North Central regions. It will be very cold, with severe cold in the mountainous areas of the North and the possibility of snow and ice in the high mountains until around December 25.

Central and South Central regions: December 20-25, scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain; December 21-24, widespread moderate rain and heavy rain is likely.

In the South and the Eastern Central Highlands from the night of December 22-25, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain.

Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.
