ACCOMPANYING BUSINESSES IN RESPONDING TO FLUCTUATIVE TARIFF POLICIES
Recently, on April 10, in the context of increasing global trade tensions, the US decided to suspend reciprocal tariffs for 90 days against 75 countries and territories around the world, including Vietnam.
This decision is seen as a step to relieve pressure, opening the door for trade negotiations; at the same time, it is also a positive signal according to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for Vietnam to restructure its industry, implementing a flexible policy to stabilize the economic situation.

According to the leader of Lam Dong Department of Industry and Trade, the US market has not been in the top 5 main export markets of the locality for a long time due to its geographical distance and lack of competitive advantage compared to some countries with the same industry structure in Europe and South America.
Of the total export value of local goods of 985.77 million USD in 2024, Lam Dong's key export items are mainly fresh agricultural products, accounting for 54% of the province's total export value, focusing on markets in East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan... because they are easy to transport and the transportation costs are also cheaper.
Exports to the US only account for about 4.5% of the province's total exports, mainly textiles and coffee.
Regarding imports, the locality mainly imports machinery and raw materials for the textile industry, with the value of textiles accounting for about 60% of the value of exported and imported goods to this market.
Lam Dong province's export items to the US in 2024 will reach 45 million USD, accounting for 4.5% of the province's total export goods, mainly textiles and coffee. |
According to the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the near future, the export market may slow down due to the decline in the two major markets, the US and China, which will affect international trade. International trade will certainly be affected by slowing down because when the tax rate is high, the consumer demand of people around the world is expected to decrease.
Although Lam Dong province has a relatively small volume of goods exported to the US market, which has not had a major impact on the local export and import situation, implementing the instructions of the Government and ministries and branches, Lam Dong province is accompanying businesses with the motto of the Prime Minister: "Calm, flexible, close to reality, accompanying businesses and proactively negotiating".
Recently, Lam Dong provincial leaders have directed departments and branches, including the Department of Industry and Trade, to regularly update the latest information on instructions from the Government, ministries and branches to guide businesses. At the same time, accompany and support businesses to have appropriate production and business plans, creating conditions for businesses to diversify export channels and other potential markets.
