Energy sector

The Phap Luat newspaper has an article: "Ready with many scenarios for electricity supply for the 2025 dry season".

The National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) said that electricity supply in the first four months of the year was still guaranteed. It is estimated that the cumulative load by the end of April, the total electricity output produced and imported by the national electricity system is estimated at about 98.7 billion kWh.

To ensure safe and continuous power supply during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, and to ensure stable power supply during the dry months of 2025, NSMO has developed many different scenarios.

Import and export sector

Investment Newspaper published an article: "18 Import-Export Management Departments are assigned the task of issuing C/O, CNM, REX".

18 regional Import-Export Management Departments across the country are assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to issue non-preferential Certificates of Origin (C/O), Certificates of Origin Without Change (CNM) and REX codes.

At the Conference on disseminating and organizing the implementation of Decision 1103 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade held on the afternoon of April 22, Mr. Nguyen Anh Son, Director of the Import-Export Department, requested that C/O issuing Departments pay attention to fully, seriously and responsibly implementing the issuance, inspection and verification of C/O according to the provisions of Decree No. 31/2018/ND-CP and the Minister's directives.

Domestic market sector

On VnExpress there is an article: "Many goods increase in price".

Items such as powdered milk, food, and agricultural products increased by 20-40% compared to a year ago, causing consumers to tighten their spending. Many agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, and cocoa also set new price levels. According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, each kilogram of raw beans fluctuated at 134,000 - 135,000 VND, causing the price of roasted and ground coffee to increase by 30-35% to 200,000 - 350,000 VND/kg. Pepper and dried cocoa also doubled compared to the same period last year.

Businesses and retailers are facing difficulties due to rising input material prices. Domestic confectionery and cooking oil manufacturers say they are trying to maintain prices, but admit that it will be difficult to sustain long-term when raw material prices increase.

On April 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a conference on developing the domestic market and stimulating consumption. The conference aimed to find solutions to stimulate consumption and promote domestic purchasing power in the context of export difficulties and high pressure on GDP growth.

E-commerce sector

VOV.VN newspaper has an article: "Proposal to exempt import tax on goods under 1 million VND on e-commerce platforms".

The Ministry of Finance is seeking comments on a draft Decree regulating customs management of exported and imported goods traded via e-commerce.

According to the provisions of the draft Decree submitted to the Government in Official Dispatch 6289/BTC-TCHQ dated June 20, 2023 of the Ministry of Finance, the subjects exempted from import tax are: Imported goods with customs value per order from VND 2,000,000 or less; imported goods with customs value per order over VND 2,000,000 but the total amount of import tax payable is less than VND 200,000; in which: Each organization or individual purchasing goods is only entitled to tax exemption standards for imported goods not exceeding VND 96,000,000/year.
