According to VietNamNet reporters at the scene, it was not until after 1am the same day that the salvage work on the crashed vehicle was completed. The car in question is a 4-seater Hyundai i10 with a Dong Nai province license plate.
According to a diver participating in the rescue, the car fell upside down and was lying deep in the river. To bring it to shore, the rescue team used large, inflatable barrels to create lift to float the car before proceeding with the salvage.
The car was almost completely deformed when it was recovered, the front bumper and grille were crushed. The windows were shattered, the interior was flooded with water and mud; the roof was badly dented from the impact and sank into the river.
Previously, at 11:00 p.m. on December 14, the Rescue Police force of Dong Nai and Binh Duong Province Police coordinated to bring the body of the female driver in the car in Dong Nai River to the shore and transfer it to Di An City Medical Center for further investigation.
When the victim was brought up, she was wearing a red shirt and white pants, matching the description given by the family of Ms. TTN (22 years old, living in Dong Nai) earlier. When the body was put on the car and transferred to the morgue, the family members cried out in pain, calling out the name of the unfortunate victim...
As reported, at around 6:00 p.m. on December 14, a car traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai suddenly lost control when it reached Dong Nai Bridge, broke the iron railing on the left side of the bridge, and plunged into the river and disappeared.
Upon receiving the news, Dong Nai and Binh Duong police forces quickly arrived at the scene and coordinated the search.
At 9pm the same day, some people came to the scene crying and claiming to be relatives of the girl who was in the car accident. Authorities took information and statements from the victim's family.
According to the family, 30 minutes before the accident, Ms. N. called to say she was driving home, the car she was driving had license plate 60K-460.XX.
However, the family could not contact her after that. When they heard the news that the car had broken the railing of Dong Nai bridge and plunged into the river, the family rushed out in the hope that Ms. N. was safe.
At the same time, the search team discovered the car lying on the riverbed with the body of the female victim, about 20 meters from the crash site.
