There were 39 Chinese, Indonesian and Filipino crew members on board. It is not yet clear which crew members have been found.

According to CCTV, countries participating in the rescue operation along with China include Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Maldives and the Philippines. China's Ministry of Transport said that Sri Lankan divers have found and recovered debris from the ship. The wreckage is currently drifting east.

On May 18, China’s Ministry of Transport confirmed that at least two people had died, while the rest were still missing. A total of 13 ships, including three Chinese naval vessels and two foreign vessels, were involved in the search for the ship in distress./.
