From the bamboo village…

One early summer morning in Tho Nghiep countryside, when everyone was still immersed in the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside, the women of GBA INNOVATIVE were present at the company's raw material growing area.

While nimbly harvesting roses and blue pea flowers for the tea processing factory, Ms. Pham Thi Chinh said: "Before, we only knew how to garden and farm. At our "old age", we are very excited to be able to work at the company.

Not only do we have jobs and income, but farmers like me are also trained, have more knowledge about health and health care products, and understand more about production activities according to processes, with inspection and supervision instead of doing things spontaneously."

Standing next to Ms. Chinh, Ms. Tran Thi Ngot added her story: "We were instructed on how to grow organically. Each season has its own food, we grow beans, flowers, medicinal plants... to serve production. From the bamboo fence of the village, we go to fairs to introduce products, exchange in many places, expand our knowledge and communicate more confidently and openly."

Start from dreams

As a native of Tho Nghiep, when she was a student, Ms. Bui Thi Thuy dreamed of making her own organic agricultural products that are friendly to the environment. To realize that dream, Ms. Thuy established a company that purchased raw materials from farmers such as turmeric, cassava, medicinal plants, tubers, etc., then learned and researched formulas to process the products.

During the startup process, I received support from the Women's Union at all levels and many agencies and units in Xuan Truong district and Nam Dinh province, where the company's factory is located. This valuable support has created conditions for women's startup products to find a place in the market."

The founder and manager of GBA INNOVATIVE LLC said: "One of the company's main products from 2014 until now is creative tea. The tea is made from 7 familiar ingredients: green-heart black beans, red beans, dragon's blood brown rice, lotus leaves, jasmine flowers, stevia, and cassia seeds.

The ingredients are grown and cared for meticulously, without the use of pesticides or growth hormones. The combination of natural ingredients has made the product different, when mixed to drink, it has a gentle aroma and a feeling of relaxation.

In 2020, these products were evaluated and ranked as OCOP products of the province by the Advisory Council.

Next, Ms. Bui Thi Thuy researched and made organic agricultural products such as: Gymnema tea, rose tea, nutritional cereal powder, shampoo... Currently, the company's herbal tea product line alone has 62 types.

The Company's products are distributed in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang... and sold on the company's website and e-commerce platforms.

To develop products and build brands, Bui Thi Thuy said that she and her colleagues are constantly improving product designs and quality to serve consumers and increasing product introductions at trade fairs, on mass media and social networking sites...

On her entrepreneurial journey, the 9X female director shared that, depending on different times, she will come up with appropriate strategies to build a brand and develop products.

Specifically, in the early stages of establishing the company, she focused resources on training and developing human resources, building a systematic system and investing to bring products to major distribution channels such as supermarkets, chain stores, etc.

When the company grew, but was affected by external factors such as epidemics and economic recession, she boldly cut costs, even downsized, with the motto of slow but steady development step by step.

"I really like a saying: Think of things that are suitable for each stage of your development. With a small business, starting from ideas and dreams, with limited capital, you need to calculate carefully to gradually form products and build a brand.

"I myself have to be the one who closely follows up, brings products to market, introduces them to the market, works, connects with partners, and gradually builds a system in both production and distribution. Difficulties always exist, but the more difficult it is, the harder I have to work, be constantly creative, and have a strategic vision so as not to fall behind," said Ms. Thuy.

Constantly striving and learning, Bui Thi Thuy said she is always ready to challenge herself, never giving up, with the desire to bring a better life for herself, her family and open up job opportunities for other women in her homeland.
