Attending the conference were: Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Trang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Justice; Mr. Nguyen Quy Linh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Vuong Quang Minh - Principal of the Provincial Political School; representatives from the Department of Culture and Sports; and representatives from the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, the District People's Council, the District People's Committee of Con Cuong district, as well as experts with in-depth knowledge of the culture and cultural preservation of ethnic minority communities.

Nghe An province is home to a large number of ethnic minorities, including five main ethnic groups: Thai, Tho, Mong, Kho Mu, and O Du, comprising approximately 466,137 people (accounting for 15.2% of the province's total population) residing in 11 districts and towns. Each ethnic group has its own rituals, beliefs, customs, and traditions, creating cultural diversity and significantly enriching the cultural heritage of the province in particular and Vietnam in general.

In recent years, the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities have been carried out by all levels and sectors, creating quite attractive tourism products. Several tourism development models have been formed and are operating quite effectively, such as the open-air Nature-Culture Museum model at Pu Mat National Park, Kem Waterfall, Sao Va Waterfall, and Bay Tang Waterfall; and community tourism models, craft villages, and brocade weaving such as Khe Ran village, Nua village, and Xieng village (Con Cuong),...
The implementation of conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development has been quite effective, contributing to both the restoration, preservation, and promotion of many distinctive and typical cultural values of ethnic groups, while also creating more jobs and increasing income; thereby, promoting the process of poverty alleviation in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Alongside the positive results, in the current context, the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in our province are also facing profound changes and erosion, posing enormous challenges in preserving and promoting their value.
The need to preserve and promote the valuable traditional cultural values of ethnic minority communities is becoming increasingly urgent in the context of international exchange and integration. Along with focusing on preserving and promoting cultural values during the integration process, the issue of closely linking the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities with programs, projects, and policies for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous regions also needs to be addressed.

Attending the conference, researchers, managers, artisans, and respected representatives of the Thai, Tho, and Mong ethnic groups from various localities exchanged views and clarified the current state of conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, linked to tourism and service development. Delegates also put forward very specific and practical initiatives, solutions, and proposals aimed at guiding and implementing conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, specifically in relation to tourism and service development, and in the conservation and promotion of cultural values in Nghe An province in general.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi emphasized that rich cultural values are invaluable assets that need to be preserved and promoted, becoming a driving force for economic and tourism development. However, in the face of economic integration, we are gradually losing the beautiful cultural and traditional features of our nation.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council suggested that specialized departments and agencies should work together from an early stage to advise the Provincial People's Council on issuing the most comprehensive resolution for the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, in conjunction with the development of tourism and services in the province.
In her concluding remarks at the conference, Ms. Lo Thi Kim Ngan, Head of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council, acknowledged the contributions of researchers, artisans, and influential figures representing various ethnic groups. Based on information and data from practical experience, the delegates focused on analyzing, evaluating, and explaining the difficulties and obstacles in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the province.

Organizing this conference provides the Ethnic Affairs Committee and the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council with more practical information to propose and recommend to the Central Government the improvement of institutions and policies, and to request the Provincial People's Committee and relevant State management agencies to direct the better implementation of the work of preserving and promoting the traditional values of ethnic minorities, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development and improving the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities in the province.
