From March 31, TikTok social network users in Italy, France and Germany will be able to use the TikTok Shop e-commerce feature to buy products through this application.
The move marks TikTok's deeper penetration into the European e-commerce industry, following its success in multiple markets across the continent.
In a statement, TikTok said it will offer shopping videos and live videos, allowing users to buy products featured in a personalized feed, aiming to provide a tailored shopping experience.
TikTok also said the new platform will allow users in the three largest economies in the European Union to buy products from local brands and distributors. Notably, the youth-oriented platform also confirmed that users under 18 will not have access to "content that links to TikTok Shop products."
TikTok Shop has been operating in Spain and Ireland since December 2024 and in the UK since 2021, showing impressive business results.
In addition, TikTok Shop is available in dozens of countries around the world , such as Thailand, the United States, and Saudi Arabia. Although known for its low-cost products, the platform is working to expand its price range and product range.
TikTok's foray into Europe comes amid uncertainty over the short-video pioneer's future in the U.S., where the U.S. is in talks with four groups interested in acquiring TikTok.
Previously, the US passed a law requiring TikTok to divest from its Chinese owner ByteDance or be banned from operating in the US for security reasons./.
