(Dan Tri) - The menu to welcome VIP guests (important people) revealed by the owner of the beer house in Ta Hien is familiar dishes of Vietnamese cuisine, such as: Tofu marinated with onions, boneless chicken feet, grilled squid, bottled beer...
At around 5:30 p.m. on December 5, Nguyen Duc Huy (34 years old, owner of Huy Beer Tay) received a call from a company, reserving a table for a group of 20 people. The representative asked him about opening hours, the dishes on the menu, and requested to reserve a table to sit on the sidewalk, on Ta Hien Street (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi).
There are 7-8 dishes to choose from, all of which are familiar dishes of Vietnamese street food, such as: Fried sour spring rolls, boneless chicken feet, fermented spring rolls wrapped in fig leaves, fried potatoes, tofu with onions, grilled squid and beer.
"The group of guests did not request any unusual dishes or services. Therefore, all preparations at the restaurant were still carried out as when welcoming other large groups of guests. I also had a feeling that these would be VIP guests but could not guess who they were," said Mr. Huy.
At 9:30 p.m., about 30 minutes before the scheduled time, Mr. Huy and his staff were surprised to see that the restaurant was locked down. The representative of the organization that made the reservation proceeded to check and review the general situation at the restaurant.
At this time, the restaurant is not allowed to welcome new guests. Guests who have been dining before can still sit normally, but at a position 5 tables away from the sidewalk.
At 10pm, the VIP guests arrived, everyone along the street stood up and applauded. Mr. Huy was surprised but also happy to see Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and CEO Huang appear.
"My emotions were overwhelmed, I was honored to welcome two special guests to the restaurant. They sat on the sidewalk, eating simple but authentic Vietnamese dishes. Both Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and CEO Huang were friendly and lovable," said Mr. Huy.
The Nvidia founder looks familiar, in a black T-shirt and jeans. He is considered approachable, willing to stop to take pictures and sign autographs for fans on the street.
During the meal, CEO Jensen Huang happily drank bottled beer and snacks. He, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and everyone around him shouted "Vietnam".
According to Mr. Huy, the meal lasted about 1 hour, in a comfortable, cheerful atmosphere, surrounded by locals, domestic and international diners. It is known that the initial estimated time for the meal was only about 20-30 minutes.
After the meal, the representative of the delegation paid the total bill for 5 tables and 20 people, which was 5.4 million VND.
"Everything went smoothly until the last minute when the two special guests left. For me, this event was a lucky coincidence.
I think not only my beer shop but all the people and businesses on Ta Hien street feel very proud for contributing to bringing Vietnamese street food culture to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Mr. Jensen Huang," said Mr. Huy.
On the evening of December 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Mr. Jensen Huang - Chairman and General Director of Nvidia Corporation - visited Hoan Kiem Lake, toured the Old Quarter, and experienced the cuisine and atmosphere on Ta Hien Street (Hanoi).
Previously, during his trip to Hanoi in 2023, Mr. Jensen Huang enjoyed pho tray at Hang Non, duck hotpot at Hang Thiec, bun thang, egg coffee on Nguyen Huu Huan street...
During this visit, the billionaire visited traditional dining places in Hanoi such as: Pho Bat Dan, Giang coffee...
