In order to collect and publish the book Heroes and Soldiers of Dien Bien Phu, the Steering Committee for the compilation of the book has proactively coordinated closely with provinces and cities nationwide to collect and correct data and lists of soldiers and soldiers directly participating in the campaign, data on youth volunteers (TNXP), and frontline workers. Based on the close combination of editing, citing, summarizing biographies and portraits of Dien Bien heroes and soldiers with QR code scanning to help provinces and cities nationwide look up lists of gratitude to soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline workers, and volunteer police. The Steering Committee for the compilation of the book has seriously received comments and contributions from readers and provincial leaders, corrected and supplemented data and documents on heroic martyrs, ensuring objectivity and accuracy before publishing.
As a result, the Steering Committee, Editorial Board and Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Truth National Political Publishing House organized the printing and publication of 2,500 copies. The Provincial Veterans Association received 1,000 copies at the end of April 2024 and presented them to the delegates attending the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory Ceremony, and the remaining copies were given to the Department of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and Veterans Associations of 63 provinces and cities. After the book was published, it received many comments and thanks from veterans, provincial and municipal leaders across the country. The total cost of publishing the book was 850 million VND, which was implemented from socialized capital and the provincial budget.
Discussing at the meeting, members of the Steering Committee for compiling the book focused on discussing the advantages and difficulties in the process of researching, collecting data, layout, page number, form, and presentation methods to limit errors when the book is released. At the same time, it was proposed to continue assigning tasks to the agency directly receiving feedback and participating in giving comments on the book to supplement and correct data when there are errors.
Concluding the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Mua A Son, Head of the Steering Committee for compiling the book Heroes and Soldiers in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, acknowledged the efforts and smooth coordination of the units in the process of participating in the implementation of the book. He affirmed: In a short time, there was a lot of work, large content, and wide scope, but after many adjustments, the book was published promptly, ensuring progress and quality. This is an extremely valuable document, affirming the important contributions and great merits of the heroes and soldiers, and the solidarity of the whole nation in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also agreed with the opinions of the delegates, and at the same time proposed to establish a website about the book and assign the standing agency, the Provincial Veterans Association, to monitor, receive, and synthesize comments and contributions to the book Heroes and Soldiers of Dien Bien Phu for editing and serving the reprinting in the coming time. Regarding the implementation costs, the Department of Finance will proactively pay and settle the costs for publishing the book.
