On the morning of October 18, the Cooperative Union of Ha Tinh province held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary (October 19, 1993 - October 19, 2023). On April 11, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh wrote a letter calling on landlords and farmers to join cooperatives. On March 8, 1948, the first handicraft cooperatives and three agricultural cooperatives in the country were established. The cooperatives made important contributions to the construction of socialism in the North and supported the battlefield in the South.
In October 1993, in Hanoi, the National Congress of Cooperatives was held to decide on the establishment of the Council of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. At the second National Congress of Cooperatives (January 2000), the official name of the organization was taken as the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and unified throughout the system.

The Ha Tinh Cooperative Union, formerly the Provisional Council of Cooperatives and Non-State Enterprises, was established by the Provincial People's Committee under Decision No. 1242/QD-UBND dated October 19, 1993. In the beginning, it faced many difficulties, lacked facilities, and had a weak and insufficient staff. However, with the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee, the Cooperative Union gradually put its activities into order.
Through 6 congresses, the staff and workers of the Cooperative Union have been improved in both quantity and quality. Each congress is an important milestone in the development of the organization and operation of the Provincial Cooperative Union associated with the process of consolidation, innovation, development and improvement of the efficiency of collective economy.
The Cooperative Union has coordinated well in advising the province on mechanisms and policies for developing the collective economy; organizing propaganda on policies and guidelines on collective economy, new cooperative models; performing well the function of consulting and supporting cooperative development; organizing hundreds of training sessions for cooperatives; supporting hundreds of cooperatives to participate in trade promotion. At the same time, advising on the establishment of the Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund with preferential interest rate loans, helping cooperatives have more resources to invest in production and business.
With the achieved results, the Provincial Cooperative Union has been awarded many noble prizes by all levels and sectors.
Ha Tinh currently has 1,040 cooperatives, 2,851 cooperative groups, 3 cooperative unions with 91,000 members, making an important contribution to completing the criteria for building new rural areas. Many units apply science and technology, produce according to the value chain, link production with market expansion, build brands, and improve product quality. The whole province has 115 KTTT products that meet OCOP 3-4 star standards, accounting for 42% of the total number of OCOP products in the province. |
At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the glorious journey of the Provincial Cooperative Union over the past 30 years, while recognizing the difficulties and limitations and suggesting solutions to develop Ha Tinh's cooperative economy commensurate with its potential and advantages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran The Dung briefly informed about the socio-economic results of the province in the first half of the 2020-2025 term. Although implementing the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress in a difficult context, the whole province has made efforts to effectively achieve the "dual goal". Ha Tinh has overcome difficulties, safely and flexibly adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic, and gradually restored the socio-economic situation and regained growth momentum.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also commended and acknowledged the results achieved by the leadership, cadres of the Provincial Cooperative Union and the provincial economic organizations over the past 30 years. At the same time, he requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels directly lead and direct the development of economic groups and consider this an important and regular political task. In particular, focusing on the tasks and implementation solutions.
Specifically, it is necessary to have a correct and complete understanding of the nature, position, role and importance of the market economy in the socialist-oriented market economy; continue to review and perfect mechanisms and policies to encourage and support the development of the province's market economy; innovate and improve the quality and efficiency of operations of market economy organizations, the core of which is cooperatives.
Cooperatives must be established and operate in the spirit of “voluntariness, democracy and mutual benefit”. Party committees, authorities, organizations, departments, and branches need to pay attention to and regularly support cooperatives in their operations, especially in improving cooperative management capacity, developing production and business plans, linking production, consumption, and distribution of goods.
Continue to further promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in mobilizing members and supervising the implementation of policies and laws on economic development.
