Continue to fight against smuggling and trade fraud

On the afternoon of April 21, the National Steering Committee 389 held an online national conference on the work of the first quarter of 2025 and the direction and tasks for the coming time. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the conference. Attending at the Vinh Phuc bridge was Comrade Phung Thi Kim Nga, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389. According to the Report of the National Steering Committee 389, in the first quarter of 2025, the supply of food, foodstuffs, and essential goods for people's lives was diverse and stable. However, in the quarter, some illegal transportation of prohibited goods such as drugs, firecrackers, foreign cigarettes, essential goods, etc. emerged during the Lunar New Year 2025.

In the first quarter of 2025, units and localities nationwide arrested and handled over 30,600 violations. Of which, there were nearly 6,800 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods; nearly 23,000 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud; over 1,100 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations; collected over VND 4,600 billion for the State budget; prosecuted over 1,300 cases with over 2,000 subjects.

Concluding the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Head of the National Steering Committee 389, acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the results achieved by central and local ministries, branches and localities in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in recent times. At the same time, he requested the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities to continue to develop programs, plans and solutions to prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in accordance with the actual situation. Thoroughly instruct the team of cadres doing professional work to absolutely not assist, protect or cover up smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods activities.
