Coffee purchasing prices in the Central Highlands provinces have reached VND131,500/kg. According to many businesses, concerns about supply in Brazil and Vietnam are the main reason for coffee prices remaining high for a long time.

According to information from many agents and growers, the transaction price of coffee on February 6 fluctuated between 129,000 and 131,500 VND/kg depending on the type and location, an increase of about 2,000 VND compared to the price at the beginning of February, and an increase of 10,000 VND compared to the beginning of January.
Specifically in Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, coffee prices are traded from 129,000-130,500 VND/kg. Meanwhile, coffee prices in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai provinces are at 130,000-131,500 VND/kg.
Similarly, at noon on February 6, on the London Robusta coffee exchange, coffee prices continued to increase. The contract for delivery in March 2025 increased by 1.53% (equivalent to 85 USD/ton), standing at 5,643 USD/ton. The contract for delivery in May 2025 increased by nearly 2% (equivalent to 298 USD/ton), listed at 5,646 USD/ton.
Thus, after the price cooled down in November 2024 to a common level of 106,000-110,000 VND/kg; by 2025, coffee prices tend to increase again, with the strongest increase in the past month.
According to many businesses, concerns about supply in the world's two largest coffee producing countries, Brazil and Vietnam, have pushed coffee prices continuously high recently.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online recently, Mr. Do Ha Nam, vice president of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, said that the continuous price peaks in recent times are unprecedented in the history of the industry, and the main reason comes from reduced supply.
"Now the world only relies on the supply of goods in Vietnam, but we sell in moderate quantities, while Brazil has low supplies and will only enter the crop season in May, and other countries are not in season at this time either," said Mr. Nam.
According to many exporters, with a relatively large amount of sales, the amount of coffee still in stock among the people is quite high, possibly at 60-70% of the last crop's output. The lack of massive sales also contributes to keeping the price of Robusta coffee (which accounts for about 90% of Vietnam's output) at a good level.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, in January 2025, Vietnam exported 154,635 tons of coffee, with an export turnover of 799.48 million USD. Of which, exported coffee beans reached 137,568 tons, with a turnover of 694.93 million USD, down 38.2% in volume but up 8.8% in turnover compared to the same period last year.
Coffee prices increased 3.5 times, many farmers still refuse to sell
The current price of around 130,000 VND/kg has increased 3.5 times compared to the common price of previous years (around 35,000-40,000 VND/kg), helping many gardeners make big profits. However, many farmers are still stockpiling.
"Last crop, I harvested nearly 5 tons of coffee, but I don't need the money yet, so I'm still holding on to it until now. I heard rumors that the price could go up to 150,000 VND/kg, so I'm still waiting in the hope of a better price," said Ms. Vo Thi Tran, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province.
