The second training session of the Vietnamese women's team since the 3-0 victory over the Malaysian women's team on May 3 took place at Acleda Stadium, quite far from the center of the capital Phnom Penh. Although it was 3 p.m., the outside temperature was up to 37 degrees Celsius and under the scorching sun.
"The hot weather has significantly affected the physical strength and performance of the whole team in the opening match against Malaysia. However, after this match with the victory, with a relaxed mentality and in the past days, we have gradually adapted. The entire Vietnamese women's team is currently in good shape and we are ready for the key match against the Myanmar team," midfielder Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy told the Vietnamese press at Acleda Stadium.
Bich Thuy was also the player who scored to raise the score to 2-0 in the 24th minute in the win over the Malaysian women's team after Pham Hai Yen opened the scoring in the 5th minute, before star striker Huynh Nhu sealed the 3-0 victory in the 34th minute.
"With our opponent Myanmar, we were surprised when they defeated the Philippines 1-0. However, Myanmar women's football has also invested a lot and they have developed strongly in recent times. Facing this opponent will certainly be difficult. However, the Vietnamese women's team is very comfortable mentally and determined to enter the match to achieve the best result," Bich Thuy added.
Bich Thuy also revealed: "Coach Mai Duc Chung told us to be very focused, but also in the most relaxed mood. The entire Vietnamese women's team must strive to find a win against the Myanmar women's team, then we will look forward to the match against the remaining opponent in the same group, the Philippines."
In Group A of the 32nd SEA Games women's football, the Vietnamese women's team is leading the group with 3 points, equal to Myanmar, but ranked higher thanks to a better goal difference (+3 compared to +1). Next in line are the Philippine and Malaysian women's teams, who have no points.
