Fake doctor Nguyen Truong Hai photoshopped his doctorate degree to create trust?

A PhD in information technology who had three terms as manager of the information technology department at two universities in Ho Chi Minh City, recounted: "I met Mr. Hai when he was a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. We had a few coffees together. When we talked, I saw that Hai often talked nonsense, not talking deeply and much about his expertise. Hai told me that he still had a lot of time, so he asked me to arrange for him to do more teaching at the school where I was working."

However, because the school had planned to teach several months in advance, Mr. Hai did not become a guest lecturer.

This doctor commented: "The reason Mr. Hai faked his degree from the University of Natural Sciences , Ho Chi Minh City National University, is because this school is considered by insiders to be one of the few most prestigious places for training masters and doctors in information technology. To get a doctorate at this school, some people take 8 years, and on average it takes 5-6 years to complete, which means it is not easy but requires serious investment and real capacity, so the quality of the degree here is highly appreciated."

A researcher at the Institute of Basic and Applied Science Research (HCMC) also said: "Mr. Hai's doctorate was suspected to be fake more than a year ago. At that time, Mr. Hai sent a photo of his doctorate to some people to create trust during the application process. When they saw the photo, they discovered that it was a composite photo and not a real photo. I myself was also friended by Mr. Hai on Facebook and then asked to teach. However, after a few chats, I saw Mr. Hai talking nonsense, and also heard some friends talking about the composite photo, so I refused."

According to an officer of the information technology department of Van Hien University who had met Mr. Hai for a while when he applied for a probationary position as deputy dean, Mr. Hai introduced himself as a former head of department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and had taught at many universities. On Facebook, Mr. Hai also showed pictures of himself teaching and being a speaker at programs...

"Mr. Hai built his personal image like that to gain the trust of the schools. Even though Mr. Hai had never been the head of the information technology department of Van Hien University and resigned during his probationary period because his degree was discovered to be fake, when he went elsewhere, Mr. Hai still introduced himself as the head of the information technology department of this school," the officer added.

On the personal Facebook page that is said to belong to Mr. Hai (many officials at the schools confirmed that Mr. Hai has used this Facebook page before), there are still hundreds of photos showing Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai's activities from 2015 to the present. Among them are many photos of Mr. Hai "checking in" at the University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education,FPT University, Saigon University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology...

Mr. Hai's introduction on this Facebook page states: guest lecturer at Saigon University, guest lecturer (Dosen) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, university lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, studied information technology and computer science at the University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

However, according to our research, up to now, Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai has participated in teaching (full-time, guest lecturer), guiding graduation theses and probationary work at a series of schools: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Saigon University of Technology, Saigon University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, Van Hien University, Gia Dinh University, FPT University, Vietnam College of Industry and Trade, FPT Polytechnic College and currently there is information that Mr. Hai also taught at 2 other universities, one in Nha Trang and one in Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that in the past few days, the police agency PA03 (Internal Political Security Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police ) also went to work with a number of schools where Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai used fake master's and doctoral degrees to teach, to investigate the case.
