Tien Phong Marathon 2025: Lanterns light up the 'red flower river'

In the sacred atmosphere, journalist Phung Cong Suong recalled the 81-day and night battle to protect the Citadel and Quang Tri town, which recorded in the nation's history a shining milestone, an immortal epic about revolutionary heroism.

"A generation of young people set out, dedicating their most beautiful youth, following the sacred call of the Fatherland, fighting, heroically sacrificing, their blood and bones mixed with the soil, into the river, turning into trees and grass, into alluvial soil on the banks", journalist Phung Cong Suong said with emotion, "They made victory, a victory from their own spiritual strength, patriotism, noble ideals, using gold courage to fight against steel to carve a towering monument with the aspiration for independence and unification".

On the river that once mingled with the blood of thousands of cadres, soldiers, and people across the country, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam and journalist Phung Cong Suong, along with the Organizing Committee, athletes, and contestants participating in Miss Vietnam 2024 respectfully lit incense sticks, gently released fresh flowers, and flower lanterns to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their youth for the Fatherland.

Journalist Phung Cong Suong praised the heroic martyrs who achieved victory from their own spiritual strength, patriotism and noble ideals.
