Tien Giang: The price of commercial red tilapia remains quite high.

According to the Department of Fisheries of Tien Giang province, by April 2025, Tien Giang province has 1,693 cages/178,000 ^m3 , an increase compared to the same period in 2024 (1,661 cages/175,000 ^m3 ). In which, the main fish species raised is red tilapia (about 75%), the rest are raised other fish species such as: grass carp, catfish, bream, common carp, white pomfret... Every year, the market is supplied with about 10,000 - 12,000 tons of commercial fish of all kinds.

In recent times, the price of commercial tilapia has always remained quite high.

In the first quarter of 2025, the situation of fish cage farming developed normally. The estimated output in the quarter was about 5,748 tons, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2024. In particular, the price of commercial fish cages fluctuated from 50,000 VND - 52,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000 - 14,000 VND/kg over the same period in 2024, with this price, farmers earned about 4,000 - 8,000 VND/kg; the price of fish fry fluctuated from 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg over the same period in 2024.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Dang Khoa, in Thoi Hoa hamlet, Thoi Son commune, My Tho city, Tien Giang province, said that his family currently has 6 cages raising red tilapia, grass carp... mainly red tilapia. Currently, the price of fish feed this year has decreased compared to 2024 by about 30,000 VND/bag, along with the stable price of commercial fish cages, so he and other cage fish farmers are very excited about a year of good harvest and good prices.
