Tien Giang: Preserving and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics

The preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values ​​have a great impact on building solidarity in the community and creating a healthy cultural environment. In Tien Giang, the preservation and promotion of historical and cultural relic values ​​are focused on and are gradually combined with tourism development.

Tien Giang currently has 185 ranked relics, including 3 special national relics, 17 national relics and 165 provincial relics. In recent years, the preservation and promotion of the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in the province have been directed by Party committees and authorities at all levels. Many relics have been restored, repaired, upgraded, embellished, associated with promoting and developing tourism, contributingto educating traditions, promoting the image of Tien Giang homeland, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit and study.

For large-scale historical and cultural relics, local authorities pay attention to management, protection, restoration, repair and regularly open them to visitors. Based on the assigned tasks, the People's Committee and departments, branches, and organizations at district and commune levels in the province have quite synchronous coordination in organizing management, inspection, and supervision of the activities of historical and cultural relics.

The relics that have been renovated, embellished and restored include: Ap Bac Victory Relic (Cai Lay Town), Fortress (Tan Phu Dong District), Thay Nam Tu Theater (My Tho City); Royal Mausoleum, Mr. Do Trinh Thoai Memorial House, Mrs. Tran Thi Sanh's tomb, Ao Vong Victory, Truong Dinh's tomb, Trung Communal House (Go Cong Town); Dong Thanh Communal House, Vinh Binh Communal House, Ong Lao Pagoda (Go Cong Tay District); Memorial Stele of 2 female martyrs Le Thi Le Chi and Le Thi Ngoc Tien, District Party Committee Base in Trung Hoa Commune, Thu Khoa Huan Temple (Cho Gao District); Memorial Stele of Bo Co Battle (My Tho City); Ba Chua Xu Cong Tuong Temple Relic, Duong Hoa Communal House (Tan Phuoc District); Uncle Ho Shrine Relic, An Huu Communal House, Hoa Khanh Communal House, Quan Thanh Pagoda (Cai Be District)...

Some of these relics have been restored and embellished with funds mobilized through socialization. This shows that the community is increasingly interested in preserving, embellishing and conserving relics and cultural values ​​in the province.

According to the assessment of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the work of restoration, embellishment, care, protection and promotion of the value of relics has received attention from localities. Most relics are managed, exploited and promoted for their value in traditional education and tourism. Some typical relics have become "red addresses" in attracting people to visit and research on major holidays and important local events.

The historical and cultural relics in Tien Giang province are quite rich, considered as a resource for tourism development. Therefore, tourism development can be associated with exploiting resources from local cultural and historical heritages. Through tourism activities, cultural values ​​are effectively promoted, helping friends and domestic and foreign tourists to understand, inherit and promote the value of relics and heritages in the most effective way.

In order to effectively preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee has recently issued Official Dispatch 1938 on strengthening the management, protection and promotion of the value of historical and cultural relics in the province.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the provincial departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, cities, towns, and requested the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and provincial socio-political organizations to, based on their functions and tasks, implement a number of contents on management, protection and promotion of historical and cultural relic values ​​in the province.

Continue to strictly implement the Party's guidelines, resolutions, conclusions, policies, laws of the State and regulations related to the management, investment, construction, protection and promotion of the value of relics. Heads of agencies, units and localities are responsible for implementing the management, protection and promotion of the value of relics in the management area...
