Over the past 25 years, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province, has developed its economy at a high speed, people's lives have been constantly improved and national cultural features have always been respected and present.

25 years ago, Tien Du District was re-established (September 1, 1999 - September 1, 2024) on the basis of splitting Tien Son District into Tien Du and Tu Son districts according to Decree No. 68/CP dated August 9, 1999 of the Government.
Tien Du District is located in the North of Bac Ninh Province, with an area of 95.6 km2 and a population of nearly 196,000 people. The district has 14 administrative units, including 1 town and 13 communes. The district center is about 5 km from Bac Ninh city and about 25 km from Hanoi center.
During the past 25 years, Tien Du district has constantly strived to develop its economy, culture and society to its full potential, so that people can fully enjoy all the good results both materially and spiritually.
Care for people's lives and welfare
According to the approved Bac Ninh Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Tien Du will become one of the four cities of Bac Ninh province. Tien Du City will be a center of high technology, information technology, public services, commerce, entertainment, cultural tourism, experience, education and training and technology transfer.
With the advantage of regional traffic connection between Bac Ninh province and Hanoi capital, Tien Du district is a strong focus of attracting industrial investment in the province with 3 industrial parks: Tien Son, Dai Dong - Hoan Son, part of VSIP Industrial Park with a total industrial land area of about 1,000 hectares, attracting tens of thousands of workers inside and outside the province.
Along with economic development, the district has focused on directing and effectively implementing the poverty reduction and social security programs. Over the past 25 years, the district has built 875 houses, becoming the leading district in building houses for poor households, policy beneficiaries, and meritorious people. Many welfare works have been built to serve community activities in residential areas. The district currently has no meritorious people classified as poor households.
At the same time, social insurance, health insurance and other social policies for workers are given attention. The district closely directs poverty reduction work, implementing solutions to support economic development, creating more jobs and stable income for workers, improving people's lives, the number of rich and well-off households is increasing, the number of poor households is decreasing from 12.7% in 1999 to 1.02% in 2023.
The work of caring for and protecting the health of the people of the district has had important and positive changes. The health system from the district to the commune has been consolidated and improved in all aspects, achieving encouraging results.
Specifically: the quality of human resources is gradually improving; 100% of health departments have university degrees or higher; health centers have 15.8% of employees with postgraduate degrees, 50% with university degrees, 25.5% with college degrees... Notably, 100% of commune and town health stations have at least 1 doctor. This is the premise for effectively implementing professional indicators.
Thanks to that, the district has controlled and repelled many dangerous epidemics occurring in the area, especially the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2021, cholera in 2008, dengue fever in 2017, and Measles-Rubella in 2019.
In medical examination and treatment, doctors and nurses of Tien Du district have successfully treated many critically ill patients, limiting the need for referrals; have treated patients with ventilators, hemodialysis, central venous catheter placement, emergency pulmonary decompression... without serious complications in medical examination and treatment; have deployed 3,857 techniques within the referral line and 43 techniques beyond the referral line.
Focus on "incubation"
Tien Du always identifies education as a key field to "incubate" young generations to build and contribute to the future of the district.
When it was first re-established, the district's education sector faced many difficulties: teaching equipment was still lacking; the rate of solid classrooms was very low; the number of excellent teachers in the province was small; the number of excellent students at the provincial level was still too low; the whole district had only one national standard school.
Thanks to the efforts and efforts to overcome difficulties of the Party Committee, government and people, by the 2023-2024 school year, the whole district has 52 public schools, including: 21 kindergartens, 16 primary schools, 15 secondary schools. The facilities are spacious, 100% of the classrooms are solid, 48/52 schools meet national standards level 1, 2.
Up to now, the district has completed universal preschool education for 5-year-old children; universal primary and secondary education at level 3; and illiteracy eradication at level 2. At the same time, the quality of education has been improved, with 98% of preschool age children meeting requirements, and 99% of kindergarten age children. At the primary level, the excellent completion rate is 34.95%; good completion rate is 25.24%; completion rate is 39.07%; and rewards are 61.99%. Students completing the class program are 99.41%. Students completing the primary program are 99.97%. For secondary education, the rate of students with good conduct is 91.8%, good academic performance is 27.3%; the secondary school graduation rate is 99.92%.
In particular, the quality of key education, excellent students at the provincial level in the 2023-2024 school year achieved a total of 51 awards including 1 first prize, 8 second prizes, 13 third prizes, and 29 consolation prizes. The entrance exam results for Bac Ninh Specialized High School continued to firmly affirm its position in the 2nd position of the province with a total of 67 students passing the exam. The entrance exam results for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year achieved an average total score of 34.67 points for 3 subjects, firmly consolidating its position at the top of the whole Bac Ninh province.

Preserve and promote traditional cultural values
Tien Du is located in the Quan Ho Folk Songs region recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is a great pride and honor for the people and the land of talented people of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac with domestic and international friends. Throughout history, Tien Du is also known as one of the Buddhist centers of Vietnam.
Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values is always a priority for the district. Many historical relics have been invested in and upgraded. Up to now, the district has 24 historical relics ranked at the national level and 60 historical relics ranked at the provincial level.
Historical works and relics have been paid attention to, invested in, restored and upgraded into historical and cultural relics, typically: Phat Tich Pagoda, Hong An Pagoda, Bach Mon Pagoda... In which, Phat Tich Pagoda is recognized as a special national relic, a destination for many Buddhists and tourists from all over.
Every year, many festivals take place in the district in early spring, of which the two biggest festivals are the Peony Flower Festival at Phat Tich Pagoda and the Lim Festival taking place in early January, attracting millions of visitors.
Inheriting and promoting traditional heritage, the district's cultural - information and sports life has made much progress; the quality and effectiveness of movements have been improved; national programs and goals on culture have been well implemented in the direction of socialization and diversification. Continuing to promote the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", creating new changes in landscape, environment and civilized lifestyle. The whole district currently has 62 cultural villages and 41,564 cultural families.
The above achievements in all aspects reflect the 25-year journey of active development and integration while still maintaining the national identity of Tien Du district. This achievement is thanks to the constant efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Tien Du district. Looking to the future, Tien Du district continues to strive to become a city worthy of the local potential and strengths.
