Trung Son Hydropower Plant ensures electricity supply in dry season

Providing safe, efficient and continuous electricity is the core task of Trung Son Hydropower Company Limited (TSHPCo) in 2024. This is to effectively implement Directive No. 05/CT-TTg dated February 14, 2024 of the Prime Minister on ensuring electricity, coal and gas supply in the coming time with the goal of "Ensuring electricity supply, maintaining national energy security is the foundation and an important premise for socio-economic development, deciding the success of the country's industrialization and modernization process".

To carry out this important task well, TSHPCo has focused on all stages from electricity production, equipment repair and maintenance, reservoir regulation, preparation of spare materials and equipment, and labor safety and fire prevention.

In the first months of 2024, TSHPCo focused on production, closely following the requirements and tasks of ensuring electricity supply. The electricity output in the first months of the year was approximately equal to or exceeded the assigned plan. The plant's availability coefficient reached 98.9%, exceeding the expected plan of 95.22%. The total time of unexpected machine downtime due to equipment damage or incidents was 0. The generators operated safely and reliably, without subjective incidents leading to machine downtime. The on-duty crews complied with the shift regime, consistently implemented instructions in the operation and electricity production, ensuring safety for equipment and people during the production process; at the same time, strictly followed the instructions and operations in electricity production.

Regarding the repair of generators, implementing the plan approved by Vietnam Electricity Group, Trung Son Hydropower Plant has carried out inspection and maintenance of generators right after the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, ensuring safe and reliable operation of generators for the dry season and preparing for the 2024 flood season.

With the efforts of the staff serving the regular maintenance and repair work and the direction of the company's leaders, the maintenance and repair work has ensured the progress of the assigned plan. During the maintenance process, the unit has also implemented a number of solutions to increase the reliability of the system such as adding throttle valves and pressure reducing valves to the hydraulic valve control system of the generator set, minimizing abnormalities in the generator set's speed control.

Regarding the hydrological situation, Trung Son Hydropower Reservoir is in the dry season with very low water flow, the water flow frequency is only about 95%, the average Q flow is only 40-45m3/s, ensuring water level and maintaining flow for downstream but still ensuring power generation efficiency is very difficult. In that situation, TSHPCo has coordinated with related units and localities to flexibly regulate the reservoir through power generation, optimal water use, improving turbine efficiency and reducing water consumption. The company based on the 10-day forecast hydrological situation to make appropriate bids, maintaining the reservoir water level to ensure the minimum water level according to the process.

The preparation of spare materials and equipment for power production is also given attention. TSHPCo has developed a plan to prepare materials for repair and maintenance work. Important spare materials are also prepared to be ready for replacement when damaged, ensuring immediate repair if an incident occurs, and quickly restoring the unit when required.

The tasks of ensuring labor safety in production are checked throughout. TSHPCo takes the motto that labor is always the most valuable asset of each enterprise, the dissemination of labor safety before the shift in the operation and repair shift is always updated, ensuring safety not only for labor but also for the production line and the whole factory.
