Sweden Women's team secured third place at the 2023 Women's World Cup after a 2-0 win over hosts Australia thanks to goals from Fridolina Rolfo and Kosovare Asllani.

Fridolina Rolfo and Kosovare Asllani took turns scoring to bring victory to the representative from Europe.

Rolfo broke the deadlock with a cool finish past goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold from the penalty spot, opening the score 1-0 for Sweden in the 30th minute.

In the 63rd minute, from a quick counter-attack, Stina Blackstenius skillfully handled the ball and passed it back for Kosovare Asllani to finish with a tricky shot, sealing a 2-0 victory for Sweden.

This result helped the Swedish women's team win third place overall at the 2023 Women's World Cup. This is also the fourth time in history that Sweden has won this position.

Previously, they won the runner-up position in 2003 and three times finished third in 1991, 2011 and 2019. Meanwhile, losing the last two matches and only winning fourth place overall was a pity for the host team Australia.

However, reaching the third-place play-off was the most impressive achievement Australia has made in the history of this tournament.

Tomorrow (August 20), the Women's World Cup finals will officially conclude after a month of fierce competition with the match between the Spanish and English women's teams. This is the first time both teams have participated in the Women's World Cup finals.
