On the morning of August 16, in Hanoi, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, received a delegation of the Portuguese Communist Party led by General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party Paulo Raimundo who was visiting and working in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong affirmed that the visit would help further strengthen the traditional solidarity between the two Parties, the multifaceted friendship and cooperation between the two States and peoples of Vietnam and Portugal, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2025.
Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong thanked the Portuguese Communist Party for always giving attention, support and close comradely affection to the Communist Party of Vietnam over the past many years.

Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong informed the General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party of the outstanding results and lessons learned from nearly 40 years of renovation; affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam is steadfast in Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, determined to realize the goals set by the 13th National Congress: by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income and by 2045, it will become a developed country with high income; and build a clean and strong Party.
General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party Paulo Raimundo was delighted to visit Vietnam for the first time, expressing his admiration for the important economic development and social progress achievements that Vietnam has made since the Doi Moi process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party affirmed that Vietnam's achievements and lessons in the renovation and construction of socialism are valuable experiences with high reference value for the Portuguese Communist Party in the struggle for democracy, progress and socialism in Portugal.
Emphasizing that the Portuguese Communist Party always attaches importance to the traditional solidarity relationship with the Communist Party of Vietnam, the General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party affirmed his wish to continue contributing to promoting the good friendship and cooperation between the two Parties, the two countries and the people of Vietnam and Portugal, as well as to join the Communist Party of Vietnam in consolidating the international communist and workers' movement./.
