(NLDO) - The delicious dishes that make Hanoi cuisine famous, especially pho, will be introduced to diners at the Hanoi Food Culture Festival.
With the theme "Hanoi connects five continents", the 2024 Hanoi Food Culture Festival will take place from November 29 to December 1 at Thong Nhat Park with many diverse activities.
Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong expressed his wish that Hanoi cuisine would be known by many people.
Sharing at the press conference introducing the event on November 25, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, expressed that this agency always wants to bring the cuisine of ancient Hanoi as well as the cuisine of today's Hanoi to those who want to enjoy it.
"We want to be a bridge for people and tourists to access products that are both traditional and popular in Hanoi. Every time they have the opportunity to come here, people can understand and know more deeply about the cuisine in the capital from the past to the present and in the future. We always consider cuisine a unique art form that contains a very high level of knowledge" - Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said.
The highlight of the festival is the promotional activities and introduction of Hanoi pho.
The Hanoi Food Culture Festival 2024 brings together more than 80 booths from embassies in Vietnam, many typical traditional craft villages of Hanoi and other localities. The booths will operate continuously from 9am to 10pm every day, arranged and divided into areas: International cuisine; typical culinary culture space of traditional craft villages and performances by artisans, introducing products and enjoying cuisine combined with experiential activities.
The area introducing typical culinary culture spaces of traditional craft villages and performances by artisans will recreate the space imbued with the typical culinary heritage of Hanoi such as: Hanoi Pho, Ho Tay shrimp cakes, Phu Do vermicelli, Uoc Le ham, Lang Vong green rice flakes, Me Tri green rice flakes, Phu Thuong sticky rice, Phu Thuong sweet soup, Tranh Khuc banh chung, Phung spring rolls, Ganh Quan sticky rice cakes, Phu Nhi rice cakes, Quang Phu Cau porridge, Ha Mo se porridge, So village vermicelli...
In this area, there are also performances by artisans introducing traditional local cuisine.
The highlight of the festival is the activities to propagate, protect, promote and introduce the intangible cultural heritage of folk knowledge "Pho Hanoi".
Hanoi pho is different from pho of other localities such as Nam Dinh.
"Within the framework of the Festival, activities will be carried out to announce the decision on the folk knowledge of "Pho Hanoi" being listed as a national intangible cultural heritage; to build a Hanoi Cuisine column in the Economic and Urban newspaper; and to hold a discussion on "Protecting and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of Pho Hanoi"..." - Mr. Do Dinh Hong said.
At the program, guests will have the opportunity to experience Hanoi's traditional pho dishes and "Pho so" with smart robots that prepare each bowl of pho accurately, from the stage of cooking the broth to serving on the table. Smart robots will replace humans in production and service work, creating a "Pho" culinary experience that can be introduced and spread more widely to all regions.
Hanoi Pho has a special appeal to food enthusiasts.
Accompanying the Hanoi Food Culture Festival, sharing at the press conference, Mr. Kajiwara Shinsuke, Deputy Director of Acecook Vietnam Business Division, said that with a deep love for Vietnamese pho, the company is proud to contribute to promoting pho not only domestically but also internationally.
"This is the next step in our journey, together with the authorities, to promote Pho Hanoi, and put Pho on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity," affirmed Mr. Kajiwara Shinsuke.
