Today, February 1, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province, said that the People's Committee of Dak Nong province has agreed to assign the Department to hire an independent inspection unit to soon find the cause of the landslide and land cracking incident at Dak N'ting reservoir.

"Hiring an independent inspection unit is to clearly identify the cause of the incident in order to have a basis for proposing solutions and handling according to regulations. The rental fee is paid by the Dak Nong Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (investor)," Mr. Pham Tuan Anh informed.

As reported by VietNamNet, on August 2, 2023, Dak G'long district authorities suddenly discovered cracks and landslides about 500m long and 3-5cm wide on the hillside on the left side of the Dak N'ting reservoir (Quang Son commune).

In addition, houses of households around this reservoir also had cracks in their foundations. A few days later, the incident continued to get more complicated, with cracks and landslides growing longer.

Dak G'long District People's Committee has evacuated dozens of households, livestock and property from the dangerous area downstream of the reservoir.

The investor, the Dak Nong Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, has requested the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction, and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to quickly establish an inspection team to assess the level of landslides and find a solution.

The Management Board also urgently requested construction units to quickly send workers to the site to drill the dam body and create trenches to drain underground water....

The Dak N'Ting reservoir project has a total investment of nearly 137 billion VND, of which nearly 106 billion VND comes from the Climate Change and Green Growth Target Program for the 2016-2020 period and nearly 32 billion VND from the local budget.

The total land use area is over 80 hectares. The project will supply water to 680 hectares of crops, including 100 hectares of rice in Quang Son commune, Dak G'long district.
