Tam Co Market ( Tuyen Quang City) has reopened for business after the Lunar New Year.
According to a survey conducted by reporters at local markets, the prices of vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish are currently relatively stable.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a small trader at Tam Co Market (Tuyen Quang City), said: “The vegetables and other food items I import and sell after Tet are priced from 8,000 to 30,000 VND/kg depending on the type. Although the demand for green vegetables is high at this time, prices remain stable due to abundant supply. Especially, unlike previous years, people now prefer to order delivery services instead of buying food directly.”
Currently, in the market, vegetables such as kohlrabi and cabbage are priced at 8,000 VND/kg; carrots and tomatoes have stable prices of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg; potatoes are 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; and cauliflower is 10,000 VND/head.
Fresh vegetables also maintained stable prices, such as mint, perilla, dill, etc., priced at 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg; onions, coriander, and lettuce cost 20,000 VND/kg.
For meat and fish products, prices have increased slightly by 10,000 - 20,000 VND/kg. Specifically, pork is priced at 120,000 - 130,000 VND/kg depending on the type, compared to 130,000-140,000 VND/kg on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month; beef is priced at 220,000 VND/kg, down from 250,000 VND/kg during the peak Tet holiday. Sturgeon is priced at 250,000 VND/kg, snakehead fish at 120,000 - 130,000 VND/kg, and common carp at 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg (depending on size)...
For ready-made food items like pork sausage, the price is 150,000 VND/kg, beef sausage is 280,000 VND/kg,...
After the Lunar New Year, people prefer fresh seafood.
Ms. Pham Khanh Ly, from Phan Thiet ward (Tuyen Quang city), said: “Food prices are quite stable, and if there are any increases, they are only slight. After Tet, I bought a bunch of celery for 15,000 VND/kg, compared to the same price before Tet. Similarly, the carp that my family chose to eat to relieve the post-Tet feeling was still priced at 70,000 VND/kg.”
Observations at local markets such as the market at Km15, Tu Quan commune (Yen Son district), and Xoan market, Thuong Am commune (Son Duong district) show that the prices of many types of food are relatively stable.
In addition, supermarkets like VinMart and food chains such as Sang Nhung and Tam Huong reopened from the second day of Tet (Lunar New Year), serving the needs of the people. Business is gradually returning to normal, with low consumer demand at the beginning of the year, mainly focused on essential items such as fresh food, seafood, vegetables, and food services.
The stable prices of food items are a positive sign in stabilizing the market. This result is partly due to a positive change in people's shopping habits, with a less tendency to hoard goods. More importantly, it is thanks to the decisive involvement of all levels and sectors in strengthening market inspection and control, resolutely handling cases of hoarding, price gouging, and violations related to the sale of counterfeit, fake, and substandard goods to protect the rights and health of consumers. Along with this, measures to stabilize the market have been strengthened, ensuring the availability of essential goods at reasonable prices, preventing shortages, price spikes, or excess inventory after the Lunar New Year.
