Shortly after Celine Dion announced the cancellation of all her remaining shows until 2024 due to health reasons, disturbing images of the singer circulated on social media, suggesting she would likely be unable to perform again due to her serious illness.
Meanwhile, a social media account posted a video of a woman in a wheelchair attending her son's wedding, claiming it was Celine Dion, causing panic among many of the singer's fans.
A TikTok account posted a photo of a woman in a wheelchair and claimed it was Celine Dion.
In the clip, obscured by large text, an image of a woman being helped up from a wheelchair by her son to dance at his wedding has led many social media accounts to suspect it is Celine Dion.
"This is Celine Dion attending her son's wedding in a wheelchair. She suffers from a rare condition called 'stiffness.' Oh, is this the beautiful Celine Dion with the amazing voice?" , one person wrote when sharing the video.
Celine Dion also suffers from a rare disease, but she is not the person in the video that is circulating.
However, Reuters recently confirmed that the person in the video is not Celine Dion. It is a woman from Florida named Kathy Poirier who suffers from a rare form of muscular atrophy that requires her son's assistance to stand up from her wheelchair. The behind-the-scenes video of the clip was posted by a wedding planner.
