Quang Chieu Forest Ranger Station staff coordinate with Quang Chieu Border Guard Station (Muong Lat) to patrol forest security.
Mr. Le Nguyen Hong, Head of Quang Chieu Forest Ranger Station, said: Quang Chieu Forest Ranger Station has 2 officers managing the area of 2 communes Muong Chanh and Quang Chieu, with a total area of 13,598.39 hectares of forest, 16 sub-areas, of which natural forest is 12,437.26 hectares, protective forest is 7,538.79 hectares, production forest is 6,611.35 hectares. The area has 22 villages, with a total of 2,055 households, 9,735 people of 5 ethnic groups: Thai, Muong, Mong, Dao and Kinh living together.
In order to do a good job in forest protection and forest fire prevention, in recent years, Quang Chieu Forest Protection Station has advised the People's Committees of Quang Chieu and Muong Chanh communes to effectively implement the State management of forests and forestry land, develop forest fire prevention and control plans, and strengthen the steering committee for forest protection and development. The station has also increased propaganda and raised people's awareness of forest protection and development. Thanks to these efforts, in recent years, Quang Chieu and Muong Chanh communes have not had forest fires or other acts of encroachment on the forest.
In 2024 and the first 3 months of 2025, Quang Chieu Forest Ranger Station coordinated with departments, branches, organizations; residential areas, and schools to organize 435 village-level meetings with 41,000 participants. The meetings included dissemination of State regulations related to forest protection management; at the same time, mobilized people not to graze livestock in special-use forests and to do a good job of forest fire prevention and control. In addition, station staff strictly implemented forest fire prevention and control duties, forecasting and warning of forest fire risks; promptly notified the People's Committees of communes, residential areas, and forest owners to be proactive in forest fire prevention and control, consolidated and supplemented forest fire prevention and control teams and teams, and developed plans to mobilize forces and means to be ready to participate when a forest fire occurs. The station also coordinated with units and localities in the area to organize 375 forest patrols, with 1,521 participants; through forest security checks in the sub-areas managed by the station, there were no cases of illegal logging or forest fires.
Mr. Ha Van Tan, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Chai Village, Muong Chanh Commune, said: Chai Village is assigned to protect 247.4 hectares of protective forest and 97.5 hectares of production forest. To do a good job of forest fire prevention and control, the village management board has established 3 forest protection teams, with 15 members, regularly propagandizing people not to burn indiscriminately, clear the ground cover, and build firebreaks. At the same time, the village has developed a plan, prepared forces and tools to participate in fire fighting when a forest fire occurs. Along with that, from the money paid for forest environmental services, the village has supported the forest protection team, equipped with tools for forest fire prevention and control. Thanks to that, the forest area of the village is always maintained, no forest fires occur.
In addition, local forest rangers and commune forestry officers regularly visit the village to disseminate the Forestry Law, provide guidance on shifting cultivation, and regulations on forest protection and fire prevention. Therefore, people in Chai village are always responsible and aware of forest protection. When they discover information about forest encroachment, they report it to the local authorities for handling.
Vice Chairman of Quang Chieu Commune People's Committee, Mr. Vi Van Thuan, said: Quang Chieu currently has 8,375.71 hectares of forest. To protect the forest, the commune has stepped up propaganda work, mobilizing people to join hands in forest protection. In addition, the commune directed forest protection forces to proactively go to the fields to persuade households who arbitrarily destroy forests for farming to return the land to the locality immediately after harvesting. In addition, through village meetings, the government, commune police and local forest rangers combine propaganda and harmoniously resolve issues arising related to forest protection work. From there, strengthen the relationship of community solidarity, creating closeness between the government, forest rangers and people.
In order for forest fire prevention and control work in Quang Chieu and Muong Chanh communes to continue to be effective and to minimize damage caused by forest fires, Quang Chieu Forest Ranger Station will continue to increase patrolling and forest inspection, control trails and openings into the forest to prevent and handle violations of regulations on exploitation, forest protection and forest products.
