Household bank account ownership will play a key role in GovTech, paving the way for targeted social aid disbursement, said National Economic Council (DEN) Chairman Luhut Pandjaitan. Accordingly, in January 2026, Indonesia will begin testing GovTech with direct disbursement of social aid to achieve the target.

President Prabowo said he planned to launch GovTech on Independence Day, August 17, 2025. Other benefits of GovTech include improved efficiency by integrating applications across multiple government agencies, as well as reducing the risk of corruption. The initiative is estimated to save up to Rp 100 trillion ($6 billion) in state coffers, a figure that is expected to increase in the long term.

GovTech will allow the government to monitor tax compliance of individuals and companies. The technology also paves the way for measures to ban non-compliant taxpayers from using certain public services, such as applying for a passport or driving license.

GovTech will integrate multiple digital platforms, including the Coretax integrated tax system; the Minerals and Coal Information System (Simbara); integration of the latest e-catalogue of the National Procurement Agency (LKPP), along with public services related to civil documents such as national identity cards (KTP), driving licenses (SIM) and passports, as well as services for businesses including the Single Online Filing (OSS) licensing system.

GovTech was initially launched by former President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in May last year, with the initiative initially called INA Digital, aiming to integrate the systems and data of some 27,000 applications operated by ministries and regional governments.
